It is also explained that there are five qualities such as smell. Among them, the fingers of both the left and right hands are crossed and overlapped, which is called the Vajra Palm. If the crossed fingers are gathered at the base, it is called Vajra Binding. For this, there are also fingers crossed and folded outwards, and crossed inwards and folded, the terms outer binding and inner binding appear in the Dharma language of other tantras. The basis of hand seals made with both hands is this. In other tantras, hand seals made with both hands are called Samaya Mudra, and hand seals made with hands separately are called Karma Mudra, and there is also such a saying that the basis of the latter is the Vajra Fist, which is a supplementary explanation. Therefore, if it is said to make a hand seal, it means that the fingers are crossed and folded together, which is called Vajra Binding. Similarly, the thumb must be put inside to form a fist, which is also called Vajra Fist. These are explanations about general hand seals. Next is the explanation about the hand seals of the lords of the Buddha families. Both hands are made into Vajra Fists, placed on both thighs, and the legs are in Vajra posture, that is, in Vajra Padmasana, this is the Vajra Mudra of the lords of the Buddha families, that is, Vajrasattva. When the two legs are in the Vajra Padmasana, the left hand is placed upwards in a meditative posture, and the right hand extends the fingers from the direction of the right knee, with the palm facing down, touching the ground, which means the fingertips touch the ground, therefore it is called the Earth Touching Mudra, which is the hand seal of Akshobhya. Again, based on the above posture, the right hand faces upwards, making the Varada Mudra, extending on the right knee, this is the Varada Mudra of Ratnapani or Ratnasambhava. The left hand in Padmasana is placed upwards, and the right hand is also placed upwards and flat, this is called the Lotus Hand. This is the Samadhi Mudra or Samahita Mudra of Amitabha. Similarly, the left hand is placed upwards on the Padmasana.
