It is also permissible to merely depict these characteristics. Now, the eight divisions of pegs to be driven into the ground in the ten directions are explained. What are they? For pacification, the peg is made of banyan wood; similarly, for increase, it is made of ashvattha wood; for killing, it is made of bone; for expulsion, it is made of iron; for subjugation, it is made or born from pine; for attraction, it is born from mango wood; for rigidity, it is born from bilva wood; and for delusion, it is born from arka wood, making eight in total. For all activities, the peg is born from udumbara wood. Next, the vase is discussed. Just as the pegs are described separately for different activities, for pacification, it is a crystal vase; for increase, it is a vase of the nature of excellent silver; for killing, it is a glorious skull, that is, a human skull; for expulsion and separation, it is an iron vase; for attraction, it is called a copper vase; for subjugation, it is a golden vase; for clear and certain delusion, it is a vase made of wood; and for rigidity, it is a vase of the nature of earth. The measurements of those vases for pacification and increase are as follows: the round belly of the vase is said to be directly eight times two fingers, that is, sixteen fingers, so the circumference of that thick middle part is three times that. "Ten multiplied by two is the height" means the height from below the belly of the vase to the top of the mouth is twenty fingers, and two fingers is the width of the lip extending in all directions. From the edge of the mouth opening downwards, the slender neck has a height of six fingers. "Eight fingers is the mouth" means the diameter from edge to edge of the upper lip is eight fingers, so two parts of the eight fingers divided into three parts are the opening of the middle neck. The remaining one part is the width between the edges of the lip. Thus, a vase that is complete in measurement and as white as the moon holding a rabbit is for the activities of pacification and increase. This measurement and color are not for vases of other activities such as subjugation. If there are no crystal and silver vases for pacification and increase, then a vase of the nature of earth that is not black and has no root, that is, no base, should be whitened by smearing it with rice flour or sandalwood. Similarly, it is said in the root tantra that for killing, a human skull should be blackened by smearing it with ashes from a cemetery and human fat. The neck of the vase for expulsion and separation

The nose is long, eight fingers curved, the body is slender and round, twelve fingers, the length is twenty-four fingers, the lips are one finger, and the mouth is six fingers. This is how the craftsman made it using worldly terms. The stiff one is short and thick, the height is like a circle, sixteen fingers, the neck is four fingers, the mouth is six fingers, and the thick lips are two fingers. In all activities, one should grasp what is said about pacifying and subjugating activities. Then, the times for pacifying and so on are explained. Starting from the morning hour, divide the day and night into eight periods. These eight periods will change into pacifying and increasing at different times of the day. The first period is for pacifying, the second for increasing, the third for killing, the fourth for expelling, the fifth for subjugating, the sixth for attracting, the seventh for bewildering, and the eighth for stiffening. This is the determination of the periods. Not only for fire offerings, but all activities should be performed at that time. Similarly, in half of that period, the eight activities of day and night should be performed well. For example, in the first half of the morning period of the day, pacify, and in the second half, increase. Similarly, in the first half of the night period, pacify, and in the second half, increase. Here, the two types of periods, full and half, are mentioned to explain that if one cannot continuously perform a fire offering for one full period, then one should perform a fire offering for half a period to accomplish the activity. Noon and midnight should be avoided for pacifying activities during the day and night, because those are fierce times, so pacifying and increasing activities should be avoided. Furthermore, in the combination of starting times, the positions of malefic planets such as Mars, Saturn, and the fire of time bring the fear of death. This is widely known in the world, so do not perform pacifying and increasing activities at those times. The combination of two noon periods and fierce times should be used for violent actions. Then, the firewood for pacifying and so on is explained. One hundred pieces of firewood from milky trees, that is, five hundred pieces, are used for pacifying and increasing. The five types of milky trees are: Udumbara, Aśvattha (梵文天城体:अश्वत्थ,梵文罗马拟音:aśvattha,汉语字面意思:Bodhi tree), Banyan, Celtis tetrandra, and Madhū
