All phenomena abide in emptiness by their very nature, and there is not even a trace of non-emptiness. Because they appear in the manner of emptiness and are empty in the manner of appearance, appearance and emptiness are not established as separate entities. Therefore, since none of the four extremes of existence, non-existence, both, or neither, which are imputed by conceptual thought, are present, all phenomena naturally abide free from the elaborations of permanence and annihilation, existence and non-existence, and so forth. This is to be known by establishing it through scripture and reasoning as the reality of the indivisibility of the two truths in the foundational Middle Way. To settle the mind on that meaning and become accustomed to it is the Middle Way of the path. The nature of reality manifesting as it is, free from all obscurations, is the Middle Way of the result. Thus, what is the realization of the meaning of suchness itself, having been completely liberated from the elaborations of clinging to extremes and partiality? It is great compassion without an object, free from conceptual thought, and emptiness endowed with all supreme aspects, proclaiming that the two, essence and emptiness, are inseparable or non-dual. The tenet of those who divide existence and non-existence into two and cling to the elaborations of partiality is weakened or completely abandoned, so that tenet is without any fault and will not decline in any way. Such an indivisible reality of truth is the simultaneous, direct knowledge of all knowable things encompassed by the three times, the wisdom body of the all-knowing, which was described above. Therefore, it should be meditated upon in order to attain it, because it pervades all knowable things encompassed by the three times, or because this is its nature. Thus, the tenets of Buddhism from the Vaibhashika to the Madhyamika have been definitively stated. From the brief statement of the intention of one's own view, it is also said: "The Vaibhashika and Sautrantika, the Yoga school, were taught by the Sage. Although somewhat true and untrue, the truth is the system of the Madhyamika." Thus it is said. Now, how to refute those who assert permanence, who believe that virtuous and non-virtuous actions are permanent, and who believe that only karma can bind, and so forth, by refuting some of the inconsistencies in conventional terms. The actions done by these beings in the past will not be lost, but will definitely be experienced in this life, and the actions done in this life will not be lost, but will definitely be experienced in future lives.

Thus, if some eternalists who assert karma as permanent claim that karma is permanent, then karma, having become permanent, will not perish, and people will be solely controlled by experiencing karma through births and other lives. In that case, even through countless existences, there will be no escape from samsara, and no entry into liberation, because karma is constant, indestructible, and people have no autonomy over whether or not to engage with it, so there will never be a time of liberation. These principles, even non-Buddhists must agree with. However, the peculiarity of their assertion is that after death, one experiences happiness or suffering in heaven or hell in the form of a human body, and not in the form of gods, animals, or hell beings, considering it extremely inferior to experience happiness or suffering in other bodies; this is the view of Brahma. The way to experience the results of karma is that, through the power of previously accumulated karma, the experience of happiness and suffering arises in the continuum of aggregates, with karma acting as the cause of dependent origination. It is not that karma comes here to be enjoyed like food, but the eternalists assert as described earlier. The non-Buddhists believe that the basis for experiencing karma is also limited to the current beings, etc., and not in other forms. Next, the refutation of the views of the Lokayatas is stated: If it is said that the collection of elements such as earth, etc., becomes one, just as mixing malt, molasses, or haritaki, brown sugar, and dhātakī (a raw material for brewing alcohol) together creates the intoxicating power of alcohol, without the need for the continuation of previous consciousness, it can transform into a mind with senses. Then, why can't trees, etc., also become sentient beings with senses? Because trees also possess the combination of the five elements of earth, water, fire, wind, and space. If it is said that these trees, etc., do not appear as sentient beings with senses because they do not have the ability to generate the nature of beings, then saying that elements can transform into sentient beings with senses through the power of truthful combination is completely false, because even if elements gather together, consciousness will not arise. Thus, refuting the Lokayatas or the Svabhavavadins.
