As it is said, "One cannot harm the words of those sages with reasoning." Although it is said in order to prove that meaning by saying that Ishvara is the cause, etc., from the scriptures that they themselves admit, if correct reasoning can harm, then it must be held that the meaning of the scriptures is not like that. If one thinks that whatever is said in the scriptures that one likes can be established by the scriptures alone, that is just a foolish vow. That is the opponent proving through scripture. Also, sometimes the opponents state the reason: Here, it is impossible for all of their respective results to arise from a single cause, such as a seed, which is the proximate cause, just as water and other cooperative conditions must also gather other capable causes. For things, Ishvara himself, who has the power to produce, is the cause of things, which can be established by inference. If you say that, then this reason of yours is like a false pretense of being unable to prove your own vow, so it is meaningless. Because this reason, "It is impossible for all to arise from one proximate cause," if it obtains the characteristic of proving your side or vow that Ishvara is the cause, and becomes a proof, then my side of vowing that Ishvara is not the cause will also be established, because if it is stated that "Ishvara is not the cause, because it is impossible for all to arise from one proximate cause," then it will be established. If it can refute the other side of your vow, which does not admit that Ishvara is the cause, then it can also refute my contradictory side, which says that Ishvara is the cause, just like before. Therefore, just as fire burns both the holder himself and others, and not just one, stating such a reason is useless. So it is said. Regarding this, saying that the reason for proving Ishvara as the cause of doing everything by nature is meaningless, by adding the distinction of nature, if one proves the vow by nature, and prevents the opposite side, then, just as one proves one, one must prove all, and just as one refutes the opposite side of one vow, one must refute the opposite side of all vows, therefore your

If it is established that the self-powered Ishvara is the agent by nature, then my self-powered one is also established as not being the agent by nature. Likewise, if the opposite of your pledge can be refuted, then the opposite of my pledge can also be refuted. Therefore, if fire burns without depending on anything, it should burn both wood and non-wood, not just wood alone. Such explanations also exist. Therefore, the difference between fallacious reasoning and correct reasoning is explained through examples. Here, for example, the pledges of those who assert that sound is permanent are explained. The pledge is that sound is permanent because it is not corporeal, like space. The application is that because space is not corporeal, it is permanent, and likewise, sound is also. The conclusion is that therefore, sound is also established as permanent. Such an arrangement with five-membered arguments is fallacious reasoning. To this, those who assert that sound is impermanent say: This is not any pledge, because it cannot be established. Why? Sound is impermanent because it is produced, like a pot. Just as a pot is made by the effort of clay, a wheel, a rope, and a person, so too sound is produced or made by the effort of the throat and so on. Therefore, sound is established as impermanent, and others will say this, which is correct reasoning. Therefore, from reasoning that is a combination of false or deceptive words, what is to be proven is not established. Because the sign that possesses the three aspects is stated as it is, that will definitely become a valid means of establishing what is to be proven. Therefore, proving that there is no cause that is established by its own nature, and that Ishvara is not the cause of all things, is endowed with correct reasoning, while the other is merely a pledge without a correct proof. Furthermore, for those schools that do not consider cause and effect and so on to be merely imputed, but rather assert that they are established by their own nature, if one pledges permanence and so on from the perspective of what is to be proven, and if one examines whether the reason that proves it is one or different, simultaneous or not simultaneous, and so on, if it is contradictory or cannot withstand examination, it will not become a proof.
