The establishment of the Vajra Body. Maturation empowerment. The method of accomplishing the mandala wheel. The teaching of the supreme unchanging wisdom, which has five chapters. The first chapter describes how the world, preceded by atoms, came into being. It is divided into two parts: describing how the world came into being, and explaining the measure of the world that came into being in this way. The eighth dwelling place describes how the world realm, planets, stars, sentient beings, mantras, life, and so on, arise and abide by their nature of gathering. It is said that it is taught by six verses, such as from the emptiness of time. However, if we divide this into subcategories, there are two types: general teaching and specific explanation. The first, from the emptiness of time, etc., is taught by one verse. The mantra vehicle is the definite source of the three vehicles. It abides in the fruit of one vehicle. As it is said, therefore, one must be skilled in the meaning of the three vehicles, but if one does not know the meaning of the three vehicles. And, not understanding the meaning of the veiled intentions such as killing mentioned in the mantra vehicle will cause one to fall from the path of mantra. Therefore, among the three vehicles, first, as desired by the externalists, as desired by the Vaibhashika school's treatises, the way in which the world of aggregated atoms is formed is: When one begins to form the world, in terms of time, the world is empty and destroyed, not an object of the senses, but the substances of earth, water, fire, wind, and space, abiding in the nature of atoms, and those with one of the five qualities such as sound. And, the sixth quality, which pervades all dharmadhatu, is emptiness. From those empty atoms, first, due to the cause of the time of the world's formation, the atoms of wind stick together, and from that, the light and moving progression is called wind. Similarly, the atoms of fire are all stuck together, and the lightning associated with wind is called fire. Similarly, the atoms of water stick together, and the rain associated with wind and fire is called water. The atoms of earth gather and stick together,

That which appears in the sky as Indra's bow, the rainbow, is called earth. The dust of space pervades everything. Thus, from the five emptinesses arise wind, the burning fire, water, and the holding earth, which are the four elements. Then, by the power of the wind that holds, churns, and shapes, the four foundation mandalas below, and above them the seven continents, seven mountains, seven oceans, and twenty-seven constellations, and the infinite things related to them. The sun, moon, and stars with their round shapes, and the groups of constellations such as the auspicious stars among the stars, and the Pleiades, the constellation where the seven sages reside. The names of the seven sages are: Jñānāgni, Indra, Vividha, Sena, Satya, Hiranya, Dik, and Shakuna. It is also said that there are gods such as the Four Great Kings, and other unconquerable beings and the classifications of beings such as pretas. And the Naga races such as the infinite, and the four ways of animal birth. Such as Garudas and other egg-born beings are called the birthplace of wind. Elephant kings and other womb-born beings are the birthplace of fire. Worms, butterflies, ants, and other beings born from heat and moisture are the birthplace of water. Trees and other spontaneously born beings are the birthplace of earth. Likewise, great spontaneously born beings, such as gods, are space, the birthplace of emptiness. Here, in the commentary, it is said that trees and other spontaneously born beings are the birthplace of earth, but the trees here do not refer to all cases, because trees do not belong to the four ways of animal birth, because they are not sentient beings. Moreover, the four ways of birth, such as spontaneous birth, are said to be the birthplaces of sentient beings, but for stable trees and so on, there is no need to explain such birthplaces. How can trees that grow gradually be said to be spontaneously born? Therefore, the meaning here is that some Kalachakra masters of the past considered stable spontaneously born beings to be trees and so on, which is mentioned incidentally here. As it is said in the chapter on sadhana: Thus, the birth of earth is the stable things such as trees.
