That is, it causes wonder to all the gods and people of the world. Therefore, whoever hears this well-spoken Dharma, even if they rejoice in a single word, it is shown to be extremely rare, and they will have offered to all Buddhas. Here, dispel doubts and hesitations, I have fully shown the teachings of the Dharma King, and in this supreme Bodhi, truly uphold it. Here, I have no Shravaka disciples. Shariputra, you should guard this Dharma with great secrecy, all my Shravaka disciples and all Bodhisattva Mahasattvas, with these, guard my great secret. Why? In the time of the five degenerations, evil and violent beings will appear, those with childish minds, blinded by desire, they will not generate the mind of Bodhi. That Victorious One has spoken of this One Vehicle, after hearing what was said in the past, in the future, beings will be intoxicated with delusion, abandoning the Sutras, and fall into hell. For those who are cautious and restrained, and those who have entered the supreme Bodhi, let them be without fear, and proclaim the immeasurable praise of the One Vehicle. As the guides have said, this skillful and supreme Dharma, is widely proclaimed with clever words, this is difficult for the unlearned to understand. Therefore, the world teacher Buddha, with the skillful wisdom of protection, dispelling doubts and eliminating hesitations, will surely become a Buddha, and generate great joy. Thus. World-Honored One, the venerable Mahakashyapa asked the World-Honored One with these words: World-Honored One, if there are beings whose inclinations are different, who come from the three realms, is their Nirvana one, two, or three? The World-Honored One said: Kashyapa, because of understanding the equality of all Dharmas, Nirvana is only one, neither two nor three. Thus. All Dharmas are empty and equal, without difference, that is the nature. Do not discriminate against them, if no Dharma is seen, then with great wisdom, the complete Dharmakaya is seen. There is no distinction of the Three Vehicles, here there is only the One Vehicle. All Dharmas are equal, all are equal and balanced.

Always equal and constant, thus by reasoning comes peace; knowing the state of deathlessness and transcendence of evil destinies. This White Lotus Scripture was once directly heard from the Thus-Gone One. Even if one only hears a single verse, or generates a single thought of devotion toward this sutra, all are given prophecy to attain Buddhahood. The Thus-Gone Ones, having fully transcended suffering, if they hear these Dharma categories, even a single verse heard and a single mind aroused with devotion, those sons and daughters of noble lineage are all prophesied to attain unsurpassed enlightenment. Thus, they have already made offerings to innumerable Buddhas. Again, if one writes a single verse, upholds it, reads and recites it, shows reverence to the scriptures, or offers, bows, or joins palms, all are likewise prophesied to unsurpassed enlightenment. In the future, when asked: ‘What beings will become Buddhas?’ the answer is: ‘Those who uphold even a single verse of this sutra.’ Therefore, even holding one verse, the gods and humans of the world should honor them just as honoring the Thus-Gone One. If they can fully uphold this sutra, needless to say, they will certainly accomplish unsurpassed complete awakening. Therefore, in this world, out of compassion, after the passing of the Thus-Gone One, to spread this Dharma, one will be born in the continent of Jambudvīpa in a great country. If they expound this Dharma, even secretly showing to one being, that being too is the child of the Thus-Gone One. They act in the deeds of the Thus-Gone One and are worthy to receive his entrustment. Furthermore, whoever wishes to quickly obtain omniscience should uphold this sutra, and also revere those who uphold it. This is to know the great praise and vast merit.

Through the desire of passion, one views this very sutra. In this, our Teacher, in this age of the five corruptions filled with contention, although he manifests the deeds of a Buddha, his original vast compassionate vow remains unchanged. Yet the Tathāgata’s secret way is profound and inconceivable, beyond the reach of ordinary minds of Śrāvakas and Pratyekabuddhas. Therefore he merely manifests through playful displays, like the sun shining in the world. Śākyamuni Buddha, in this age of contention, showed the attainment of Buddhahood, with a lifespan of only eighty years, and his land appearing small and impure. This should not be conceived as reality. For, according to the needs of sentient beings, the Buddha shows his body, life span, and pure land differently; yet in essence, all Buddhas are equal, possessing the limitless qualities of the wisdom body. Thus their lands are perfectly pure and vast, and their lifespans endure as long as the sky itself. Therefore, the land of our Teacher is truly the magnificent, vast lotus-ocean realm. Also, the Buddha’s manifestation of attaining Buddhahood only once in this contentious age and quickly entering nirvāṇa is not the real truth. As stated in the *Lotus Sutra*: ‘Kalpas of hundreds of thousands of millions, inconceivable in number, their limits without end, I have attained supreme, unsurpassed awakening, and I constantly turn the sublime Dharma.’ The bodhisattvas rightly uphold this, rejoicing in the Buddha’s wisdom. Innumerable sentient beings, throughout countless kalpas, are brought to maturity. He also reveals the stage beyond suffering, and in order to tame beings, he proclaims skillful means. At that time I do not pass into nirvāṇa; in this very place I always proclaim the Dharma. This is through the blessing of my primal vow, and I also bless all sentient beings. Those foolish with inverted minds do not see me here, thinking my body has passed into nirvāṇa, and so they give rise to longing and veneration, offering to my relics. Because they do not see me, faith is produced, their minds become gentle and pliant, and gradually they are tamed. At some time, when they abandon their bodies, then with such faith, they join my assembly of Śrāvakas. In the congregations, I then speak thus: ‘Indeed, it is so’...
