If I kill a monkey or a person, what is there to blame? Having said this, he silenced those people, and then called the one who was skilled in the theories of kingship and said to them: Why do you reproach me? If you think that the rituals in political science are worth striving for, then for the sake of politics, it doesn't matter whether you do good or not. Anything can be done. Then, having liberated oneself, one should practice the Dharma with wealth. Because that is what you want, I say to you: Even for friends and relatives in need, if you do not consider virtuous conduct, then I killed this monkey for its skin, what is there to blame in political science? Or, if you think that it was killed because of a lack of compassion, or that the result of such an action is suffering, then do not prioritize political science. What are you doing by following other paths? If speaking like this is rational, then what kind of deluded people are these? Alas! Those cunning people have established this as the path of political science, causing non-Dharma to flourish. You are pleased with this, thinking that it is taught by political science, and clinging to it as truth, then even if a monkey is killed, it should not be blamed. In this way, in that assembly, he was accustomed to speaking boldly, and by overwhelming the other ministers with his imposing manner, the king and his entourage became admiring and joyful. Then he said to the king: What I killed was not a living monkey, but an emanation. It was emanated for the sake of discussing such topics. Therefore, please do not have other suspicions about me. Having said this, he released the manifested emanation, and the king and his entourage became deeply admiring. While seeing things that are produced from causes, they presumptuously understand the afterlife. Professing goodness, yet full of compassion. Who would kill living beings? Great king, please listen. Those who proclaim causelessness and libertarianism, the royal theorists who do not believe in karma, those who write books for the sake of meager fame, how can those who call themselves rational acknowledge these things? Ruler of the people, is this view good or bad? Through the reasons argued by those who agree with their views, if you carefully examine those people and those things, their words and deeds will be revealed.

Transformation. Thus, relying on right view is proper, while relying on wrong view leads to destruction. Having abandoned evil beings, if one relies upon the noble ones, this should be known. To rely on the noble, abandon wicked companions, treat subjects with compassion, and uphold discipline as instructed—this is well done. The king with his retinue, freed from the path of wrong view, entered the path of right view, as if soaring into the sky. The assembly, with reverence, made prostrations and offerings, and the Blessed One returned again to the monastery. Again, when the Blessed One was in the world, there was a householder named “Anathapindada” (literally ‘Desire for Solitude’), like a great wealthy man of Shravasti, possessing much wealth and treasure, yet not careless, striving for noble teachings, and thus none could surpass him. At that time, the Thus-Gone One, called ‘Amitabha’ (‘Infinite Light’), arose in the world to cut off all beings’ doubts and reveal all paths. Upon hearing this name, some inquired where the Thus-Gone One resided, what path he followed, and so forth. The Blessed One answered, gathering ministers and chiefs, leading a great assembly toward the east, ten yojanas, a hundred yojanas, until arriving at the great city ‘Rājagṛha’, where the Thus-Gone One dwelled. All beings followed behind and came before the Buddha. Then the gods came to the Buddha, paying respects and making offerings, seeing from afar the Buddha’s radiant, beautiful form, descending from elephant and horse, entering the grove where the Buddha resided. By the Buddha’s power, a rain of ambrosial nectar and fragrant waters descended. The householder, with heart filled with joy, felt the cool touch of ambrosial light, and his journey was without weariness. The Thus-Gone One displayed a vision as if separated by only a single body’s space, and Anathapindada addressed the Buddha: “Just as I have heard, so too have I now seen; therefore this is even more excellent. In all the world there are none equal to you in wisdom and virtues.” The Buddha said: “Householder, your words are excellent. To dwell alone in purity—excellent! Just as through long ages you have relied upon roots of virtue. In all the world none is like me, and none can surpass me.” The householder smiled.
