For what reason, if the kingdom obtained through offerings and asceticism comes into your hands, why renounce the world? Beauteous said: In the forest, wearing bark and grass, with roots and fruits as food, and with fierce wild animals, living together is the best. To destroy the other world, it is not right for the wise to do killing, imprisonment, and beatings for the sake of the kingdom. The king said: Young man, understand this. You are my only son, beloved and agreeable, without any disagreement. If I die, I will unwillingly be separated from you. How can I let you go while alive? The young man said: Father, if you allow it, then that is how it will be. If you do not allow it, I will not eat food or perform rituals. Then the young man Kashi Beauteous fasted for one day, then for two, three, four, five, and six days. Then the king said to the young man: It is difficult to practice celibacy, living alone in a remote place with wild animals, living on what others give. Until the end of your life, you must abandon all human games and pleasures. Son, young man, be the heir to the throne, enjoy desires, and do charity and good deeds. Even though he said this, the young man said nothing. Then the king ordered the queen and ministers and attendants to persuade the young man. They also said to the young man: You are very young, you only know happiness but do not know suffering, it is difficult to live in a remote place. They said as before, but the young man said nothing. Then the king urged the sons of the ministers and attendants who played with that young man, and other young men also said to him as before, but he said nothing. Then those young men prayed to the king Brahma. May the god be aware. It would be better if the young man Kashi Beauteous died. Renouncing the world like this is praised by the wise. If he likes it, he will live and be taken care of. If he is not happy there and returns from being a hermit, the son's home is with his parents, where else can he go? The king said: Young men, if...

If so, please do so. Then, those young men said they would do so to Kashi Mdzeg Ga. Then, the young Kashi Mdzeg Ga gradually nourished his body with the essence of juices, and having emerged from Varanasi, he became fully ordained among the ascetics. He strived and persevered, detached from desire, and having attained the samadhi of loving-kindness, he became filled with love for all sentient beings, and through the power of that love, even ferocious wild animals became accustomed to his dwelling place and did not harm him. Therefore, his name became known as 'The Patient Speaker,' and he lived together with a retinue of five hundred ascetics. Once, King Brahma-given (Tshangs Byin) died and placed Strife-born ('Thab Mo Skye) on the throne, and he allowed the kingdom to be ruled by dharma and non-dharma. The ascetic Patient Speaker (Bzod Par Smra Ba) said: Abbot, my body is nourished by food and drink, so I am not fit to be sustained by the monastery's medicine, so I would like to go and reside at the edge of the village. He said: Son, whether you reside in the village or the monastery is fine, but ascetics should guard their senses, so go and make a hut of leaves near Varanasi and reside there. Having thus received permission from the abbot, he gradually searched for a place and wandered until he settled in a peaceful part of his father's garden. At another time, during the Soga season, when the flowering trees were in bloom and the garden was filled with the sounds of swans, cuckoos, wrens, and other birds, King Strife-born ('Thab Mo Skye) went there with his retinue of consorts. While King Strife-born ('Thab Mo Skye) was asleep in the garden, the women who loved flowers and fruits began to wander about among themselves. After some time, they saw the ascetic Patient Speaker (Bzod Par Smra Ba) dwelling at the edge with careful conduct, and with faithful minds, they prostrated to him and sat around him. The ascetic also taught them the Dharma. After some time, the king awoke from his sleep and, not seeing his retinue of consorts, became angry and drew his sword, searching for his retinue, and saw them sitting near the ascetic. Knowing that the king was angry, the retinue of consorts became frightened and scattered. Strife-born ('Thab Mo Skye) said to the ascetic:
