If he seeks refuge in me, I will not abandon him. The tiger, being attached to flesh and blood, stayed there and soon departed. The bear said, "I am tired, you stay on the tree for a while, and I will rest." He fell asleep due to fatigue. The tiger said to the man, "How long will you stay here? Abandon the bear to me, and I will eat and leave. Then you can go as you please." The merciless one thought, "How long will I stay here? It is better to abandon this one." So he abandoned the bear from the tree. The bear said, "Alas! Evil-tongued one, what evil thoughts do you harbor in approaching a friend?" As he spoke, he fell and was killed by the tiger. The man heard these words and thought, "What does this one want to share with me? That is why he speaks like this." He was then infected by it, his mind became confused, and he wandered around madly, reciting from his mouth, as before, "Alas! Evil-tongued one," and so on. Even when his relatives took him away, he spoke in the same way. They consulted exorcists, monks, Brahmins, and friends, but they all gave different answers and could not understand it. At that time, in a forest not far from Varanasi, there lived a hermit with five supernatural powers. The relatives took the man to him and told him what had happened. The hermit said, "This sentient being is committing evil deeds. This evil-natured one abandoned the Bodhisattva, who benefits others, in front of the tiger. That great being thought of teaching the Dharma to this man. Therefore, when this man abandoned him to the tiger, he felt remorse and remembered each word and line from the ten verses, which is the 'Alas! Evil-tongued one,' and so on, as he said before." One of the hermit's disciples asked, "Master, what are those verses like?" The hermit said, "Alas! Woe is it! In this world, unrighteous deeds are unbearable. One should not sow discord among people. There are those who commit the act of killing a friend. One who kills a friend will not find happiness at any time or place, not on a cushion, not on the road, not while sitting, not while walking. Thus, with a compassionate heart, the words spoken to this man, he has truly harmed sentient beings."

By examining the nature of afflictions and women, one realizes that all afflicted dharmas are unattainable, and thereby attains freedom from attachment to desire. With the noble wisdom free from any affliction, one becomes free from doubt. Furthermore, in the past, there was a Tathagata named Jnana-prabha, who lived for ten billion years. This Bhagavan, together with many beings who were the king named Visesa-citta, well explained the verses on entering the gate of bodily discipline from the category of dharmas of Sameness Samadhi. That king then renounced in the teachings of the Tathagata, practiced immaculate pure conduct for ten billion years, and also meditated on the four Brahma-viharas, thus seeing eighty billion Buddhas. After that, he gradually renounced under Buddhas as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River, practiced this supreme pure conduct, and became an excellent Bhikshu, learned, eloquent, and a master of Dharma preaching, abiding in the nature of pure morality. As mentioned above, Bodhisattvas are always endowed with the morality of restraining misconduct, gathering virtuous dharmas, and benefiting sentient beings, and it should be understood as such. End of the chapter on morality. In the past, beyond countless eons, in Varanasi (ancient Indian place name, present-day Benares), the king of the Kashi country named Brahma-datta ruled the kingdom, and that country was prosperous and flourishing. At that time, the king united with his queen, and a son of excellent appearance was born, and he was named Kashi-priya. Later, when the king's queen gave birth to a son, a war broke out in that country, so the boy was named War-born. King Brahma-datta allowed the kingdom to be ruled by both Dharma and non-Dharma, so the young Kashi-priya saw this and thought: When my father dies, I will also become king, and if I also allow the kingdom to be ruled by Dharma and non-Dharma, I will fall into hell. Therefore, I should renounce my home and become a renunciate. Then he went to his father, touched his feet, and said: Father, please allow me to renounce. He said: Son
