They asked the captain, and the captain said, "This is called the Chain of Fire Ocean. It would be good if we could turn back from here." He only told the name and did not explain the reason why the water had turned that color. They passed beyond that as well and saw another ocean, like flawless lapis lazuli, also like the color of sapphire, and also like the color of ripe kusha grass. They asked, "This is called the Ocean of the Chain of Kusha Grass. Like an elephant without an iron hook, the unbearable flow of water is diminishing our joy. Strive to return!" The captain, knowing that those merchants were suffering, sighed unhappily and said slowly, "This is called the Ocean of the Chain of Reeds. Now, because we have passed beyond this point, it is difficult to return, and if we do not return, the world will end." Having said that, those merchants became discouraged, their body joints creaked, they sighed deeply, and sat down. They passed beyond that ocean as well, and the sun's light became smaller and smaller, approaching sunset. The ocean was as if turned upside down, and all the water was flowing into a huge abyss. The sound of the ocean water was also like heavy hail falling, and like the crackling sound of a reed thicket being burned by fire, the sound was loud and very frightening. There, the merchants panicked, looked in all directions, and became very confused. They gathered at the captain's side and said, "Our ears are about to be deafened, and our hearts are also shaken by fear. A roar like a small master being angry is echoing.
