Furthermore, I do not like what is not Dharma, because it causes great faults, and the benefits are small and full of doubts. Moreover, noble ones, if they cause suffering by slandering others, they will not achieve their own happiness. Therefore, now, without harming anyone, they abide in the Dharma and accomplish their own benefit. The minister said: For the sake of the king, what fault is there in offering this with the respect of a subject? Why would the people of this land apply the term 'non-Dharma' to this? Therefore, please accept it. The king said: Although you are focused on the matter, we two, along with the people of the land of Shivi, must consider who is the best at knowing the Dharma. The minister said: There is no one greater than you, who honors the elders, is learned and intelligent, and understands the essence of meaning. The king said: If that is the case, I should not be deceived by this. Why is that? Because benefit and harm in the world depend on the actions of kings. Thinking of being close to the subjects, looking at the path of generating good reputation, just as those who follow the footsteps of the leader of the herd follow without doubt, the subjects also follow the footsteps of the king. Furthermore, listen to me. If he cannot protect himself, how can he protect the subjects? With a mind that looks after the subjects and observes the Dharma and reputation without defilement, I will not be swayed by the mind of desire. Then, that minister, realizing that the king was able to endure, bowed down and said: The subjects who have a king like you are fortunate! It is rare to find someone like you, who abides in the Dharma and is not attached to happiness, even in the forest of asceticism! The name 'Great King' is also fitting for you, who are endowed with qualities, he praised. In this way, great beings, even when suffering, do not fall into evil paths, but abide in discipline. Furthermore, in the past, when the Bodhisattva was transformed into Indra, the lord of the gods, although he had perfect heavenly bliss, he was not negligent in his work for the sake of the world due to the power of compassion. Wandering in the human world, he saw with his divine eye a king named Friend.

Due to the influence of bad teachers, ministers and subjects alike enjoyed drinking alcohol and did not see it as a fault. That great being saw drinking as a great fault and wondered what to do about it. If the king himself were corrected first, then his entourage would follow suit. So, the Bodhisattva Indra manifested as a pleasing form like pure gold, with slightly rough hair whorled to the right, wearing tree bark and deer skin, and a body full of splendor like Brahma. He held in his left hand a not-too-large bottle filled with alcohol and appeared in the sky before the king and his entourage, who were discussing grain wine, honey wine, sugar wine, mixed wine, and grape wine. Those people were amazed and respectfully stood up, folded their palms, and sat down. He secretly praised them with a voice like the roar of a dragon, saying: Who wants to buy this bottle with a garland of flowers? The king was surprised and respectfully folded his palms, asking: Who are you, with a body as beautiful as the sun and moon in the world? Please tell us so that everyone in the world may know you. We think you have extraordinary merits. Indra said: You will know who I am later. If you are not afraid of being destroyed in the next life and in this life, then buy this bottle from me. The king said: Alas! You are selling goods in a way that has never happened before. In the world, merchants speak of the merits of goods and hide the faults of defects. How is it that you, who do not lie, maintain integrity, and do not give up even if you lose true merits? What is this bottle filled with? What great profit is there that you want to sell it to me, great one, please tell me! Indra said: Great king, listen! This bottle is not filled with water, yogurt, whey, pearl water, saffron-scented juice, butter, or milk, but with the nature of sin. Listen to the merits of this bottle! Whoever drinks it will become drunk and lose their mind, involuntarily taking steps and walking.
