Moreover, if one abides in the training of moral discipline, what need is there to mention becoming a god or a human? Again, in the past, when Śakra, the lord of the gods, was born, the great army of the asuras came, and when the gods fought with them, the gods were defeated. On the way back, the top of the chariot's yoke struck a śalmali tree with a garuda's nest, and when the chicks were about to fall, Śakra said to the charioteer Mātali: "Do not hit these immature chicks, pull the chariot away!" The charioteer said: "The army of the asuras is following behind, so there is no time to do anything." Śakra said: "Even if I die, it is better. These chicks who are in danger because of fear must not be killed, turn the chariot back!" The moment he turned the chariot back, the asuras were frightened and scattered. Again, in the past, this Bhagavan was born as the son of a great Brahmin family. He learned the Vedas from a minister who was very learned and virtuous, and became intelligent, clear, and especially possessed qualities such as respect. Therefore, the guru loved him especially. At that time, in order to examine the conduct of the disciples, the Khenpo always told the story of his own poverty and suffering when performing the sang offering. The disciples, out of love for the Khenpo, collected a lot of alms and offered them to him. The Khenpo said: "What is the use of you all working so hard to collect alms? If you want to save me, then accumulate wealth!" They said: "We have little merit, so we can't do more than this, what should we do? There are few people who give, and the Brahmins have few ways to accumulate wealth." The Khenpo said: "Although there are ways for Brahmins to accumulate wealth that come from the scriptures, I am old and powerless, so I cannot do it." The disciples said: "If we can do it, please tell us, and we will repay your kindness of the Dharma." The Khenpo said: "Even so, it is difficult for those who are unwilling to work hard, but if you insist on doing it, then this is the knowledge of accumulating wealth: When a Brahmin declines, stealing is said to be Dharma. In the world, having no wealth is the worst decline. Therefore, do not take the wealth of others without seeing it. This

All of those are the property of the Brahmins. Even if one could openly steal the property, one must protect my reputation. After saying this, those students listened without examining, saying, "Let it be done that way." The Bodhisattva, being virtuous by nature, found those words unreasonable, and feeling ashamed, lowered his head and said nothing. The Khenpo, seeing this, thought, "This one must have some good qualities." He also thought, "Is it because he cannot do it, or does not love hardship, or is it because of his understanding of the Dharma that he does not steal? I must examine it." So he said to him, "These Brahmins, because they cannot bear my decline, have generated courage. Do you not love me? Or are you unable to do it? Why do you remain silent?" The Bodhisattva replied, "It is not that I do not love the Khenpo, nor that I am hard-hearted, not tormented by the suffering of the Lama. It is because this knowledge taught by the Khenpo is impossible, therefore I have no interest in it. Why is that? Like this, such a solitary place where one can commit evil without being seen by anyone is impossible. There is nowhere where beings, gods, and Buddhas cannot see. The children who commit evil thinking that others do not know what they have done are foolish. If one commits a misdeed while seeing it with one's own eyes, it is not that no one sees it, because one sees it directly. Therefore, it is impossible to be without sin. Therefore, I have no interest in it." The Khenpo was very pleased and said, "You are good at discerning the merits and faults of what I say with your intelligence, and not burying your good qualities for the sake of wealth. It is better to beg at the enemy's door carrying a clay pot than to abandon shame and attain the position of a king of gods by going against the Dharma. Child, great Brahmin, you are good!" Thus he praised him. Again, when he became the king of the Shibi country (now northern India), he benefited beings like a father. The daughter of one of his great ministers, like a goddess, attracted anyone who saw her, named Intoxicating Mother. Her father said to the king, "If a precious woman appears in your country, please accept her."
