According to worldly views, men are as precious as jewels, so why are men undervalued and women valued? The child replied: Aren't the palace servants as close to the king? Yet, base slaves are taken as servants, and they are honored and revered because they are liked, given precious clothes, and provided with food and drink with a hundred flavors. Having an only son, he abandoned him in the mountains, and instead played and made music with the wonderful palace servants, but had no thought for his son. Therefore, sons appear cheap and daughters appear precious. Hearing this, the king became even more unhappy and sad, and shedding tears, said: I am so fond of you, why don't you come to my lap? Do you dislike me, or are you afraid of this Brahmin? The child replied: We do not dislike the great king, nor are we afraid of the Brahmin. We have heard that the great king's grandson has now become a slave, and nowhere is there a custom for slaves to sit on the king's lap, so we dare not. Hearing this, the king was even more grieved, and as the child requested, he paid the Brahmin a ransom and took the two children into his lap. The king stroked them with his hand and asked: When you lived in the mountains, what did you eat? What did you wear? The two children replied: We eat the fruits and berries of the trees. We wear animal skins and coarse cloth. We play with many birds and have no sorrow. Then the king said to the Brahmin: Go outside. The two children pleaded with the king: This Brahmin is suffering from hunger and thirst, please give him food to satisfy him. The king said: I do not dislike you, nor do I hold a grudge, but I intend to give food. The child said: My father loves the path to enlightenment, so he cannot give material gifts. Even giving to those who beg because of my karma is the master who owns us. He only lets us do some work, and from the beginning he did not act according to the father's wishes. He didn't even have a shred of compassion, letting us go hungry and thirsty.

Who could bear to witness such asceticism? My father gives away even his own son without hesitation. Would the great king be so stingy as to begrudge even a single person's food? After this was reported, the king gave the Brahmin enough food, and the Brahmin happily returned to his own country. Then, the king sent a messenger to summon the prince and set out for the prince's location. There, having finally escaped from the water and thinking of the prince, he was liberated and went to the prince's presence, conveying the king's command: Please, Prince, return to your own country. The prince said, 'Initially, the king ordered me to go to the mountain for twelve years. Now, one year is still lacking. Only when the years are complete will I go.' The messenger returned and reported to the king, and the king himself wrote a letter with his own hand, entrusted it to the messenger, and instructed him thus: 'Since you are a wise and intelligent man among men, able to endure both going and coming, why are you so angry and unwilling to come? We need to eat and drink together with you, come quickly!' Thus, he sent a messenger to summon him. The prince took the messenger's letter, placed it on his head, and paid homage. After circumambulating seven times, he immediately prepared to return to his country. As he departed from that mountain, the deer and wild animals dwelling on that mountain heard that the prince was leaving, and all threw their bodies to the ground, rolled on the ground, and uttered cries of weeping. The springs also dried up, and the cubs of the wild animals and deer were also powerless. Many birds also uttered sounds of compassion. Then, the prince put on his clothes and, accompanied by his consort, returned to his country. The king of the enemy country, hearing that the prince was returning, adorned a white woolly elephant with a golden saddle, filled golden vessels with silver mud, and filled silver vessels with golden mud, arranging them to welcome the prince. After welcoming the prince, the king reported this message: 'I, being under the influence of ignorance, due to having prepared a woolly elephant for the prince, caused the prince to leave. Now I regret it and ask for repentance. Now, hearing that the prince is returning, I am very happy.'
