The two sons, unable to follow the Brahmin, returned to their father, the prince, and kneeling on the ground, said: What sins did we two commit in our previous lives that we have to endure such suffering? Since we were born into a royal family, why should we become slaves to others? After confessing their sins to the prince, may their sins be purified and merit increased by this cause, and may they never encounter such suffering wherever they are born. They said this. The prince said to his children: In this world, love and sorrow will eventually be separated, and everything is impermanent and cannot be trusted. When I attain unsurpassed enlightenment, I will do the work of liberation for you. The two sons said to their father, the prince: A son should pay respects to his mother, but now we will never see her face again, and not seeing our mother is also due to our past sins. Why wouldn't our mother be tormented by grief and suffering? They lamented. The Brahmin said: I am old and weak, and if these two children abandon me and run to their mother, I will be helpless. Tie them up. The prince also grabbed the hands of the two children backwards and handed them over to the Brahmin to be bound. He gave the rope to the Brahmin's hand, connected them, and led them away. The two children did not want to go and pulled back, and the Brahmin took a whip and lashed them, and the blood that flowed on the road dripped on the ground. When the prince saw this, he shed tears, and when the tears fell on the ground, the earth also boiled. The prince and all the wild animals escorted the two children until they disappeared, and then they returned. The wild animals escorted the prince back to the place where the prince used to play, and uttering sorrowful cries, they threw themselves on the ground and rolled around. Indra, fearing that the princess would hinder the good deed because the prince had given the two children, transformed into a lioness and sat by the roadside. The princess said, "You are the queen of beasts, and I am the queen of humans. If we both live in the mountains, please move aside a little and let me pass! I have two young and ignorant children who have not eaten anything until now and are waiting for me to return." The lion also knew that the Brahmin had gone far away, so she moved aside and let the princess pass. When the princess returned to her dwelling, she only saw the prince and did not see the two sons. She looked at her own hut, and she did not see the hut where the two sons lived. She searched in the place where the children played and by the river, but she did not find them. The deer, musk deer, wild beast lions, and monkeys, etc., who used to play with the children, were all throwing their bodies on the ground and making noises in front of her. She saw that the pond where they used to play was also dry. She went back to where the prince was and asked, "Where are the two sons?" The prince said nothing. The princess said, "Whenever I returned to the dwelling with fruit, my two sons would run from afar to greet me, and even if I hit them, they would stand up and jump, shouting 'Mother'."
