Is it not okay to stay here now? The prince said that his father, the king, had ordered him to go to Rī dantig, and staying here would be against the king's command, and he would not be a filial son, so he left. After walking like that, he arrived at the place of Rī dantig, where he encountered a deep and large river that was difficult to cross. The queen said, 'Let's stay here until the water recedes.' The prince said, 'My father said to go to Rī dantig, so it's not okay to stay here.' As soon as he entered the samadhi of loving-kindness, a great mountain appeared from the water and cut off the flow of the river. There, the prince and queen changed their clothes and crossed the river. As soon as they crossed, the prince thought, 'If it is allowed to continue, the overflowing river will drown many sentient beings.' So he turned back to the river and said, 'Water, may you flow as before, and if I have any wishes, please let me go.' As soon as he said this, the water flowed as before. After that, they continued walking and saw that the place of Rī dantig was very prosperous and lush, with many trees growing, various birds making pleasant sounds, and the springs and so on were delicious, and the fruits were sweet. The prince said, 'Looking at this mountain, the trees and forests grow as if they are touching the sky, and there are no signs of cutting or felling. Drinking the delicious springs and eating the sweet fruits, there must be practitioners on this mountain, so let's stay here.' When the prince arrived there, all the birds and wild animals living on the mountain were happy and welcomed the prince. At that time, there was a monk named A-chū-da practicing on that mountain, who was five hundred years old and possessed supreme qualities. The prince went to him, paid his respects, and said, 'In which direction of this mountain are there springs and good fruits, suitable for living?' A-chū-da said, 'Every place on this mountain is a land of merit, so you can live anywhere, because it is a secluded and pure place. Is it that you, Prince, have come with your wife and children to study the Dharma?' At this time, before the prince could speak, Queen Man-de said, 'Venerable, how long have you been practicing on this mountain?' The monk said, 'It has been about four or five hundred years since I came to this mountain.' The queen said, 'Now I and

If I cling to "I," when will I attain the path to enlightenment? If I stay in the mountains but am no different from stones and trees, and do not cling to "I" and "mine," then now I will attain the path to enlightenment. The monk said: I do not know such a true meaning as you. The prince said to the monk: Venerable one, have you heard of the prince of Yawa, the heir apparent named Dondrup? He said: I have often heard of him, but have not seen him. The prince said: I am he. The monk asked: Where are you going? The prince said: I desire the Mahayana path. The monk said: You will soon attain the Mahayana path, and at that time, please let me be your attendant, foremost in magical powers. Having said this, he led the prince and showed him the place to stay. Then, the monk properly shaved the prince's head, untied his hair knot, ate fruits from the trees, and drank spring water. The prince gathered branches and grass, made a small grass hut for himself, and also made separate grass huts for Mande and her children. At that time, the boy's name was Yari, seven years old, able to dress himself, and followed his father. The girl's name was Geno Yan, six years old, wore deer skin, and followed her mother. All the beasts, birds, and animals living in that mountain were very happy and relied on the prince for their livelihood. After the prince went to that mountain, after one night, the previously dried-up springs and ponds were filled with water. All the dried-up trees grew flowers and leaves. There were no harmful insects. The phenomenon of beasts preying on each other also disappeared, and they each ate grass. The fruit trees also became lush and beautiful. Various birds emitted compassionate sounds. The queen Mande picked fruits and berries from the trees and offered them to the prince, and also shared them with her son and daughter. The son and daughter sometimes left their parents and played with beasts and animals near the not-too-distant spring, sometimes even playing for several days. Once, the son was riding on a lion, and the lion jumped, causing him to fall.
