Distressed by not finding food and drink, they pleaded with the king, asking if he had no compassion for them. The king, feeling compassion for them, severed veins from five limbs of his own body, and five yakshas each held a vessel, allowing them to drink their fill of blood. Then, with a sharp sword, he cut off his own flesh and satisfied them. When those yakshas were satiated with flesh and blood, they rejoiced and their malevolent minds were pacified. He advised them to practice virtue as much as possible, and they also begged forgiveness from the king. The king made a vow: 'Just as now my flesh and blood have satisfied you, so too, in the future, when I attain Buddhahood, may I eliminate your three poisons with discipline, concentration, and wisdom, and establish you in the bliss of Nirvana.' Having made this vow, later, when the Bhagavan himself attained Buddhahood, those five yakshas were the five bhikshus, including Kaundinya. He vowed to liberate them first wherever they were born. Therefore, as soon as the Dharma was taught, these individuals were liberated. The power of the king's loving-kindness caused the wounds on his body to be healed by Indra's medicine, restoring him to his former state, and he peacefully protected Jambudvipa. Furthermore, the king, having become known as Vajrabahu (Diamond Arm), built houses for giving and bestowed whatever beings desired, and the story of the five yakshas being satisfied with his own blood is told as in the Jataka of the Power of Loving-Kindness. Moreover, this Bhagavan, in the past, in a place called Yava, there was a king named Good Deeds, who ruled the country with righteous laws, controlled sixty small kingdoms, possessed eight hundred large cities and five hundred yaks, four thousand ministers, and twenty thousand consorts, but had no son. Later, one of the consorts conceived a son in her sacred womb, and when he was born, milk naturally flowed from all twenty thousand consorts, and everyone was delighted, so they named him Dondup (Meaning Accomplished). When he turned sixteen, he became proficient in everything, including writing, arithmetic, archery, divination, crafts, and music. He was also very devoted to his royal parents, and a separate palace was built for the prince. From a young age, he...

Because of his love for giving, all beings, including humans, and even between beasts and birds, rejoice in happiness and well-being, and also express praise for giving in words. When the prince grew up, he took a king's daughter named Mante, who was beautiful in appearance, as his queen, and they had two children, a son and a daughter. When the prince went to watch the spectacle, he saw Indra disguised as a poor man and thought of giving alms. So he told the king that he wanted to give away everything in the treasury that the king possessed. The king also gave him whatever he liked and gave him whatever he wanted. At that time, a hostile small kingdom sent eight Brahmins to ask for a white elephant named Sudaya, which walked on lotuses and was so powerful that it always defeated other hostile forces. The prince gave them another white elephant from the white elephant's stable, but they did not accept it and insisted on asking for the white elephant Sudaya. The prince said, "This elephant is very dear to my father, the king, and if I give it away, I will be banished from the country like me." He also thought that in the past, I had vowed not to go against his will no matter what I asked for, so now, for the sake of unsurpassed enlightenment, what is there that I cannot give up? So he gave them the elephant and told them to leave quickly, for if the king heard about it, he would come to snatch it back. Hearing this, the ministers and all the people were very afraid, thinking that with this white elephant, the country would be strong. This white elephant has the strength of sixty white elephants, and if it is given to the hostile forces, the country will also decline, so what should we do? If he gives like this, the treasury will also be empty, and he is worried that he will give away the queen and the prince, so he reported to the king. The king was even more unhappy and asked other ministers, who also said it was true, and the king fell from the throne and fainted. The concubines were also saddened. After that, the king and his ministers discussed that since the prince had gone to the white elephant's stable, it would be better to break his legs; if he caught the white elephant, it would be better to cut off his hands, or even cut off his head, which would be the best policy. The king was very unhappy and said, "My son is devoted to good deeds and likes to give alms, how can I hinder him?" One minister said that it was not right to arrest and beat him like that, so it would be better to exile him to the forest for twelve years.
