May I be prophesied to attain unsurpassed perfect enlightenment. That Brahmin, having heard with great compassion, prostrated with five limbs at the feet of the Thus-Gone One. He called to the Livelihood Provider Unwavering Fear and said: Noble man, it is excellent that you will become my unsurpassed companion in practice. Whenever you come to me in all lifetimes to beg for things, I will also give with a very joyful heart, and may you not be in accordance with the aspect of non-merit. Then, the great Bodhisattva, endowed with great compassion, also entreated the Thus-Gone One: O Bhagavan, when I practice the conduct of enlightenment in those immeasurable eons, if there are beggars who come before me and beg for food, and beg with gentle or harsh words, or with contemptuous words, or with clear words, if I generate even a single instant of anger or disbelief towards that beggar, or if I give with the desire for the ripening of generosity, then I have deceived all the Buddhas residing in the countless, immeasurable realms of the ten directions. May I also not attain unsurpassed perfect enlightenment. If I give to a beggar with disbelief, or if that generosity is wasted by someone who does not believe, or even if a good quality as small as the tip of a hair is obstructed, then I have deceived the Buddhas. If a good quality as small as the tip of a hair obstructs the good qualities of the recipient, then I will also go to the Avici hell. Just as it is with food, so it should be understood by applying it similarly to begging for clothes and bedding, etc. Just as it is with generosity, so it should also be said for giving away everything from discipline to wis- dom. The Thus-Gone One Jewel Heart praised and gave the word "Excellent!", and the retinue likewise said "Excellent!" and sat with their palms joined. Just like the aspiration of the Bodhisattva Livelihood Provider Unwavering Fear who receives generosity, eight thousand beings

Even four thousand were planted. Having heard that, the one endowed with great compassion was overjoyed and said: Alala! In times of famine and decline of the Dharma, in times of great affliction and strife, in a world filled with the five degenerations, I will be a leader for the protectorless, a light and a lamp, a guide for helpless children and the blind. Thus, since I have generated the first mind, in future lives, my head, eyes, ears, and so on, even food, may be taken, and to find such a one who will be a friend in practicing unsurpassed Bodhi is wonderful! Venerable Bhagavan, in those countless eons, until the ultimate end of Bodhi, may beggars take food and drink from me for a long time, and may those beings who have taken even a fraction of a hair's breadth of generosity from my hand, after I have attained perfect enlightenment, if I do not completely liberate them from samsara, if I do not prophesy them in the three vehicles, then I have deceived the Buddhas of the ten directions, and may I be so until I do not attain unsurpassed perfect enlightenment. The Tathagata said: Well done, noble being! Just as in the past, when the Bodhisattva Sumeru Peak first generated the mind of Bodhi before the Tathagata Lord of the World, Light Rays, you also made such a prayer for the conduct of a Bodhisattva. Having practiced the conduct of a Bodhisattva as he made the prayer, from here to the east, passing hundreds of thousands of Buddha fields, in the world called Light Rays Separately Discerned, when the life span of beings is one hundred years, the Tathagata Wisdom Flower Dustless Bodhi自在Real High will become a Buddha, and after performing the deeds of a Buddha for forty-five years, he will enter the realm of Nirvana without remainder. His sacred Dharma will remain for a thousand years, and the image of the Dharma will also remain for a thousand years. When his Dharma and the image of the Dharma remain, the monastic parents, etc.

We, who are immoral, possess sinful dharmas, act improperly, are shameless, cut off offerings to the Dharma, misappropriate the wealth of stupas, and the food and other necessities of the Sangha of the four directions and the present Sangha, using them for ourselves while giving them to laypeople, all of these were also gradually prophesied by the Tathagata through the three vehicles. All those who wear red robes in the teachings of that Buddha were also prophesied in the same way. Any of the four assemblies, even if they have developed the root of downfall, but with the merit of perceiving the teacher as the Buddha, they were prophesied as before. Son of lineage, it is good that you have also made such a prayer to practice Bodhi! The Bodhisattva, endowed with great compassion, requested: "Bhagavan, my aspiration is as follows: Bhagavan, in all my lifetimes of practicing the Bodhisattva conduct, and until the ultimate attainment of Bodhi, any sentient beings who are placed in generosity and other perfections, even applying the root of virtue to the extent of a fraction of a hair tip; and after I attain Bodhi, in my teachings, any of the four assemblies who wear robes, from whom the root of downfall has arisen, or who have entered into afflicted views, or who have become confused about the Three Jewels and are accompanied by faults, even for a single moment, if they generate the perception of me as the teacher or generate a mind of reverence, from those sentient beings, even if one sentient being is abandoned, if they are not prophesied as irreversible by the three vehicles, then I have deceived all the Buddhas, and may I not attain Buddhahood. After I attain Bodhi, seeing the robes being offered with reverence by gods and humans, may those sentient beings who wear robes around their necks be prophesied as irreversible by the three vehicles. Any sentient beings who lack food and drink and are harmed by hunger and thirst, and impoverished yakshas, and sentient beings of the realm of Yama, even if they only find a robe four fingers wide, may they all have abundant food and drink and may their wishes be completely fulfilled. Gods and yakshas, etc.
