Thus it is. The Tathagata declared: "All-pervading Wind, in the future, in the world called 'Purple Gold Banner' in the east, you will become a Tathagata called King of Mountains." Then, the first of the thousand Brahmin youths, the Brahmin youth Star Protector, made a vow to attain enlightenment in this Buddha-field when beings live for forty thousand years. The Tathagata prophesied that in this Saha world, when life spans are forty thousand years, he will become a Buddha named Krakucchanda. Similarly, from the second Brahmin youth up to the nine hundred and ninety-ninth, each according to their own aspirations in this Fortunate Aeon, at thirty thousand years will be Kanakamuni, when the signs of the age of strife appear, at twenty thousand years will be Kashyapa, and after the increase to eighty thousand years will be Maitreya, and so on. The youngest of the thousand Brahmin youths, the mighty and powerful Strength Holder, will make offerings to all the Buddhas of this Fortunate Aeon, uphold the Dharma, benefit beings during the decline of the Dharma and the end of the aeon, and then become the one who integrates all the activities of those one thousand and four Buddhas, including their life spans and teachings. For those who violate the precepts of the teachings of the Buddhas of the Fortunate Aeon, are disrespectful, slander the noble ones, and so on, this Buddha will also liberate them from the mire of samsara and lead them into the city of Nirvana, and so on, as he vowed. He named that youth King of Medicine Immaculate Star, and prophesied that he would be the last of the Buddhas of the Fortunate Aeon, named Delightful to See or Clear to See. Then, the Brahmin Ocean of Dust praised him, saying: "From now on, you do not need to serve me, please act as you please!" Thus he spoke. Also, the five Brahmin youths who were served by the Brahmin Ocean of Dust, were each given precious ornaments and so on, and he caused them to generate the mind of enlightenment, and the Tathagata prophesied that they would each become Buddhas. Then, the Brahmin Ocean of Dust thought: "How can I make this retinue complete with everything

I have caused countless billions of beings to embrace the unsurpassed Bodhi. All have made vast prayers, making the Buddha-fields completely pure and entirely pleasing. Except for the All-Pervading Wind, other Bodhisattvas have abandoned the time of strife. But for me, the time of strife has arrived. One should be steadfast in diligence, regarding sentient beings as guests of the Dharma. I must ensure that this assembly and all the worlds, including the gods, bow down and make offerings to me. May the Buddhas, the Bhagavantas, bestow the word "Excellent" and praise me. And may those Bodhisattvas endowed with great compassion who will appear in the future, in the time of strife, in the field of affliction, fully embrace Bodhi through prayer, protect impoverished beings, and perform the deeds of the Buddha. Even after I have completely passed into Nirvana, for countless eons, in the Buddha-fields of the ten directions, may praise be spoken, and may the manner of my prayer be proclaimed before the Bodhisattvas. Hearing that, they will be amazed, and in order to embrace such a manner of great compassionate prayer, I shall utter the lion's roar of prayer." So thought the chief of the guides, the Brahmin Ocean Dust. Draping his Dharma robe over one shoulder, he went to where the Thus-Gone One was. At that time, countless billions of gods played musical instruments and showered flowers, praising, "Noble being, excellent!" The entire assembly, endowed with all, also joined their palms and said in unison, "Noble being, excellent! O supremely wise one, you who benefit us, may you attain steadfast prayer, and we shall listen." Then, as soon as the guide knelt before the Bhagavan, the Buddha-field, the genuine realm of awareness, the entire thousand-million world-system of the great trichiliocosm, shook and trembled greatly. The musical instruments played without being struck. All the birds and wild animals uttered gentle sounds. All the trees...
