It is extremely difficult and amazing to generate the mind of perfect enlightenment with motherly great compassion and to strive diligently. Even more so, it is extremely difficult and amazing to be certain of the existence of the Three Jewels and the ripening of karma. Similarly, even more so, it is to eliminate the arising of the three poisons; even more so, it is to abandon all friends and enjoyments, and to take seven steps from home for the sake of renunciation; even more so, it is to wear saffron robes, and with faith in the well-spoken Vinaya, to renounce from home to homelessness; even more so, it is to diligently study the instructions and precepts; even more so, it is to take seven steps desiring solitude, disliking bustle; even more so, it is to believe that all dharmas are empty; even more so, it is to obtain forbearance in accordance with the profound Dharma; even more so, it is extremely difficult and amazing to realize the three doors of liberation, and to attain from the fruit of stream-entry up to the attainment of Arhatship. Why is that? Because faith in the holy Dharma Vinaya, obtaining the status of a Bhikshu, and attaining the fruits are extremely difficult. Therefore, having renounced, do not abandon the deeds of a Bodhisattva and abide in the deeds of a child, but with twenty deeds of a Bodhisattva such as cutting off the mind of stinginess, and endowed with four vows, abandon transgressing the precepts like poison, not repaying favors, relying on deceit, false words, and transgressing the precepts, these four dharmas that obstruct omniscience, and places of gain, respect, evil friends, and bustle should be abandoned, and especially one should flee a hundred yojanas from places of contention with hatred, and one should not generate a mind of hatred. More than striking all sentient beings of the great thousandfold world system with insults, beatings, and weapons, it is a greater fault for a Bodhisattva to generate a single mind of hatred towards another Bodhisattva, and this will harm and damage the Bodhisattva. For example, just as iron cannot be destroyed by anything other than iron, such as a hammer, the root of virtue of a Bodhisattva is also destroyed by Bodhicitta.

Because hatred destroys one hero, others cannot destroy him, so one should treat each other with respect, and one should also generate the perception of a teacher towards the bodhisattva who first generated the mind of enlightenment. After saying this, the great bodhisattva Maitreya said this: World Honored One, I treat all sentient beings with respect, let alone bodhisattvas. Why is that? I do not delight in harmful thoughts, but fully cultivate the power and might of patience. I do not rely on deceit, but fully cultivate higher intention. I am not attached to family, and there is no self-grasping or complete grasping. I do not focus on wealth, but focus on the Dharma. I do not focus on food and clothing, but seek the wealth of the father. I do not engage in the entanglement of jealousy and stinginess, but rejoice in the wealth of others and fully practice generosity. I do not focus on the name of a renunciate, but study the qualities of a renunciate. I do not focus on speech, but make practice the core. I am not overly attached to gain and honor, but am content with few desires and seek the qualities of the Buddha. I do not enter the city with a mind distracted by wealth, but enter the city with the mind of remembering all-knowing wisdom. I do not pretend for the sake of Dharma robes and alms, but understand the rituals with the four noble lineages without pretense. I do not learn the behavior of children, but learn the behavior of the Buddha. I do not observe what others have done or not done, but diligently follow the yoga of taming my mind and peace. I do not accept downfalls, but guard the boundaries of speech karma. I do not distance myself from the training, but study individual liberation vows. I do not think of sustaining myself by praising the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha, but rejoice in praising the Three Jewels and rely on practice. I do not pretend to cry in order to be seen by others, but cry with the power of the Dharma. I am defiled by the noise of various activities,
