The affairs of the possessor are immeasurable. Then, the Blessed One returned to Vulture Peak Mountain (present-day Rajgir, Bihar, India) and answered the questions posed by King Ajatashatru: "Great King, the lands of the ten directions, as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River, can be counted and exhausted. However, the number of Buddhas that the Lord of Secrets, Vajrapani, has worshiped and served cannot be understood by counting, because he practices brahmacharya from them. In the past, countless eons ago, there was a Tathagata named 'Completely Pure Peaceful Conduct.' He only proclaimed the words of a Bodhisattva, saying that Bodhisattvas should abandon their bodies and lives and strive in diligence. At that time, this Vajrapani transformed into a Bodhisattva named 'Courageous Power,' who was gathered there. He contemplated the meaning of the Tathagata's words, not regarding Nirvana as a virtue but regarding Samsara as a benefit. Therefore, he made Samsara his place of practice and accepted the meaning of the Bodhisattva's immeasurable conduct. The Tathagata praised him, saying, 'Good!,' and proclaimed the Dharma of a completely pure place of practice. Therefore, just as all forms are the place of practice of space, he understood that all Dharmas are the place of practice of a Bodhisattva, thus donning firm armor and serving many Buddhas. After that, King Ajatashatru wondered whether the Vajra held in Vajrapani's right hand was heavy or light. The Lord of Secrets knew his thoughts and said: 'This Vajra is both heavy and light. It is heavy for subduing the arrogant and conceited, and it is light for those without arrogance and who are upright.' Having said this, he blessed that place with the Vajra and placed the Vajra on the ground, causing the great earth to shake in six ways. Then, the Lord of Secrets said to Ajatashatru: 'Lift this Vajra from the ground.' 班波塔桑日（地名）的七百由旬的木车也能举起，却无法撼动这金刚杵，这是为什么？于是向佛陀请教。佛陀开示说：这金刚杵的重量无法用任何事物来比喻，如果持金刚者用这金刚杵敲击金刚自性的轮围山，就会像抛洒一把糠秕一样。之后，帝释天劝莫伽略子举起金刚杵，他拿起金刚杵时，大地发生六种震动，水也涌向天空，所有海洋都翻腾，但连撼动金刚杵都做不到，感到非常惊讶。于是向世尊禀告：我以神通能将大海洋的水置于掌中，也能像某人以指尖拨动迦尔沙巴拿一样拨动这大千世界，还能阻挡太阳和月亮，也能用一只手举起山王须弥山，并将其抛到梵天世界，我还调伏了龙王难陀和近难陀，我也曾到达光辉世界，我也曾去过须弥山一般的世界，但我却无法撼动这小小的金刚杵，难道是我的神通退失了吗？佛陀开示说：你并没有失去神通，但是菩萨的加持，所有声闻缘觉都无法撼动，更何况其他众生呢？即使能够移动如恒河沙数佛土中所有的须弥山王，也无法从这里移动这金刚杵。莫伽略子禀告说：持有这金刚杵的秘密主，力量非常强大，令人惊叹。这持金刚者的力量是来自父母，还是来自神通？佛陀开示说：莫伽略子，来自父母的力量微不足道，只是为了方便才这样称呼而已。如果完全展示菩萨的神通力量，那么包括天神在内的整个世界都会昏厥过去。 之后，世尊

When asked the Buddha why one could lift a wooden cart of Bangpo Tagzangri (place name) that was seven hundred yojanas in size, but could not even move this vajra, the Buddha replied, "This vajra cannot be compared to anything in terms of its weight. If the Vajrapani were to strike the ring of mountains of the vajra's nature with this vajra, it would be like scattering a handful of chaff." Then, Indra urged Maudgalyayana to lift the vajra. When he picked up the vajra, the great earth shook in six ways, the water surged into the sky, and all the oceans churned, but he could not even move the vajra, and he was amazed. He then reported to the Blessed One, "With my magical powers, I can place the water of the great ocean in the palm of my hand, and I can move this great thousandfold world like someone flicking a karshapana with their fingertip. I can also stop the sun and moon, and I can lift Mount Sumeru, the king of mountains, with one hand and throw it into the Brahma world. I have also tamed the Naga kings Nanda and Upananda. I have also been to the Radiant World, and I have also visited worlds as large as Mount Sumeru. But I cannot even move this small vajra. Has my magical power diminished?" The Buddha replied, "You have not lost your magical powers, but the blessings of a Bodhisattva cannot be moved by all the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, let alone other beings. Even if one could move all the Mount Sumerus, the kings of mountains, in Buddha-fields as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River, one could not move this vajra from here." Maudgalyayana then reported, "The secret lord who holds this vajra is incredibly powerful and amazing. Is the power of this Vajrapani derived from his parents, or from his magical powers?" The Buddha replied, "Maudgalyayana, the power derived from parents is insignificant; it is merely a convenient way of referring to it. If the magical power of a Bodhisattva were to be fully displayed, the entire world, including the gods, would faint." Then, the Blessed One

于是（佛）对金刚手说：“拿起那个金刚杵。”秘密主使世界震动，用左手拿起那个金刚杵，向上方的空中抛掷，旋转了七圈，放在右手上，圆满的眷属们都感到惊奇，特别赞颂金刚手，为了那样的力量而祈愿，并请问获得那样力量的原因。༈ །།出自《超胜三界分别大王经》。世尊在须弥山顶，在金刚和珍宝顶的楼阁上，与菩萨、龙天、夜叉等众多眷属共处。大菩萨金刚手从天空降临，向世尊的足下顶礼，绕行三圈，并禀告说：“世尊，我想让诸如大天等不驯服的众生持守誓言，请世尊指示我。”听了这话，如来法王说道：“夜叉，你非常愤怒、傲慢且凶猛， 你如何为了众生的利益而说这样的咒语之词？”禀告道：“因此，世尊，我将调伏不驯服者。因为我将以诸如使那些渴望快乐者臣服等方式来调伏，使他们安住于无上之乐；并以诸如讲述不驯服者等方式来调伏，使他们安住于寂静。”世尊对金刚手给予赞许，说：“善哉，善哉！为了所有世界的利益和安乐，说出心髓吧。”然后，金刚手对那些对天、人、佛陀的教法深信不疑的人们说道：“朋友们，皈依佛陀吧！也请遵循我的教令！”然后，金刚手向世尊的足下顶礼，仅仅说出超胜三界的心髓，就使所有三个世界剧烈震动、摇晃跳跃，诸如天等所有众生都颤抖不已。

Then (the Buddha) said to Vajrapani, "Take that vajra." The Lord of Secrets shook the world, took that very vajra with his left hand, threw it into the sky above, rotated it seven times, and placed it on his right hand. The complete retinue was amazed and specially praised Vajrapani, prayed for such power, and inquired about the cause of obtaining such power. ༈ །། From the Great King of Distinctions, Victorious Over the Three Worlds. The Blessed One was on the summit of Mount Sumeru, in a palace stacked with vajras and precious jewels, together with a large retinue of bodhisattvas, gods, nagas, yakshas, and others. The great bodhisattva Vajrapani descended from the middle of the sky, prostrated at the feet of the Blessed One, circumambulated three times, and said, "Blessed One, I wish to make unruly beings, such as the great gods, hold vows. Please, Blessed One, instruct me." Having heard these words, the Tathagata, the King of Dharma, said, "Yakshas, you are very wrathful, arrogant, and fierce. How will you speak such mantra words for the benefit of sentient beings?" He replied, "Therefore, Blessed One, I will subdue the unruly. Because I will subdue them by means such as subduing those who desire happiness, causing them to abide in unsurpassed bliss; and by means such as speaking of the unruly, causing them to abide in peace." The Blessed One gave approval to Vajrapani, saying, "Well done, well done! For the benefit and happiness of all the worlds, speak the essence." Then, Vajrapani spoke to those who had great faith in the teachings of gods, humans, and Buddhas, saying, "Friends, take refuge in the Buddha! Also, please follow my commands!" Then, Vajrapani prostrated at the feet of the Blessed One, and merely by uttering the essence of being victorious over the three worlds, he caused all three worlds to tremble, shake, and leap greatly. All beings, such as gods, trembled.
