The Buddha said, "It is not pervasive." All the past lords of Buddhas have always proclaimed your power. Pure youth, contemplating your mantra, countless eons cannot fully express it. Manjushri, the practice of your mantra has been thoroughly explained by all the Buddhas. This youth goes everywhere. In my teachings, you are shown to be the best of men. Beings who dwell in the pure realm will here be completely pacified. Your mantra will never decline. Your mantra will never decay." Thus it was said. The meaning of "This youth, etc." is that Manjushri himself, in the form of a youth, pervades all realms, showing the accomplishment of the benefit of future beings. By truth and compassion, etc., the distinctions of the qualities of the person who practices the mantra are shown. "Whose speech," etc., shows the qualities of Manjushri. His speech, like the voice of Brahma, is pleasing and delightful, and because he reveals the treasury of Dharma, he is known by the name Manjushri. The extent of these qualities is such that even the lords or supreme ones of the Tathagatas cannot comprehend it. Similarly, the bodhisattvas who dwell on the ten bhumis, those who have transcended the world, and the particularly excellent lords of the gods in the world, and the yogis of gods and humans in the three realms, and all beings including shravakas and pratyekabuddhas, cannot know the greatness of you, named Manjushri; only the Buddhas know it. The translation here is very confused, so it is necessary to understand the connection of the meaning. By "Named Manjushri," etc., the name Manjushri, which the Buddhas have named, is heard by beings with pure and undistracted minds in the retinue of the Buddhas, but it is difficult to hear elsewhere. The benefit of merely hearing the name Manjushri is that in this life there is auspiciousness, and all obstacles and unfavorable conditions are pacified, and ultimately one attains unsurpassed enlightenment. Having thus briefly shown it, it is again declared that merely hearing the name, all mantras will be accomplished, and in all lifetimes one will be freed from evil destinies, and one will obtain an excellent place of birth, and one will always obtain the supreme qualities of the Dharma in the aspects of truth and goodness.

And abiding perfectly therein, without any demons or obstacles arising, attaining all siddhis, and perfecting all the mantras desired in one's mind, becoming a vidyadhara, this is the temporary benefit. Ultimately, having gone to the presence of the king of the Bodhi tree, for the benefit of sentient beings, while dwelling there, one will manifest the unsurpassed Bodhi. The Dharma wheel, in accordance with the cause of Buddhahood, will be excellently turned. Thus, the chief of the Buddhas spoke of the qualities of the name of Manjushri. In short, merely remembering the name "Manjushri" has inconceivable benefits, as the Buddha said. So it is. The words "the chief of the Buddhas has passed away in the past," and so on, mean that the Buddhas who have passed away in the past have extensively shown the power or qualities of Manjushri. Your mantras and thoughts are immeasurable, and even if shown for countless eons, they cannot be exhausted. All the Buddhas of the three times, without exception, have also each spoken well to the best of their ability. This youthful Manjushri, who is always free from aging and decay, and possesses a body of wisdom, also travels and appears in all the Buddha-fields of the three times. Thus, in my teaching of Shakya, the king, you, Manjushri, also appear as the supreme being, in the form of a Bodhisattva, benefiting sentient beings. In this way, although the inconceivable assembly of noble beings dwelling in the pure realm demonstrate the manner of passing into Nirvana in the realm of peace, your mantra, Manjushri, in all three times, will never transcend time or decay. So it is. If the words are modified for easy understanding, then: Like those sons, the number of the earth. Those who have entered the ten bhumis and have passed beyond the world, and The lord of the gods, the most excellent in the world. Cannot know you, the Sugata. So it is said. Named "Manju," you are supremely wise. This greatness is the all-knowing Buddha. So it is said. Having examined your name in this way, Without distraction elsewhere, with a focused and pure mind. In the retinue of the Buddhas of the past, future, and present, your name is heard. Is it pleasant to do so? I wonder. Furthermore, at that end of time, the mantras will surely be accomplished.
