Liberation! Then, the son of the gods, Endowed with Wisdom, and Manjushri, become youthful, through questions and answers, discussed the profound meaning of being unborn from the beginning and therefore without object of reference. At that time, about five hundred monks in that assembly, not understanding that category of Dharma, abandoned and opposed it, and with that very body fell into the great hells of sentient beings. Shariputra said to Manjushri: Five hundred monks, not understanding this category of Dharma, abandoned it and fell into the hells of sentient beings. Such a profound place, do not teach by separately contemplating it. Manjushri said: Venerable Shariputra, do not misunderstand. Whatever Dharma causes sentient beings to go to hell, such a thing is without object of reference. Why is that? Because all dharmas are without birth. The so-called teaching by separately contemplating it means that if a son or daughter of good family relies on the view of self, then he or she serves and honors the Thus-Gone One together with the Sangha of monks with all the means of happiness for as long as life lasts, as many as the sands of the Ganges River. It is better than hearing this profound Dharma, which is difficult to understand, contrary to all the world, and the nature of emptiness, etc. Having heard and abandoned it, those who fall into the great hells of sentient beings will quickly rise from there and be liberated. If one relies on the view of self and does not hear this Dharma but serves and honors the Thus-Gone One, it is not like that. Then the Blessed One said to Manjushri, who had become a youth: Manjushri, well said, well said, as you said, hearing this is like the appearance of a Buddha. Similarly, from entering the stream to being like an Arhat. Why is that? Because there is no attainment or realization for those who rely on the view of self and have an object of reference. Then the Blessed One said to Shariputra: Shariputra, those monks will quickly rise from those hells and completely pass beyond suffering. However, foolish people who have views of objects and are full of doubt, their offering to the Thus-Gone One is not like that. Shariputra, although it is so, they are completely liberated from suffering…

Even if there is transformation, swift liberation is unchanging, like this because of not having heard the profound Dharma. Thus it was declared. There, the son of the gods, Wise Abode, asked Manjushri: Do you wish to practice like Brahma? Manjushri said: Son of the gods, if I do not take up brahmacharya and do not practice brahmacharya, then I would like to practice like you and Brahma. The son of the gods asked Manjushri: Considering what do you speak thus? Manjushri said: Son of the gods, whatever is taken up, that is practiced; whatever is not taken up, that is not practiced at all. Whoever aims at brahmacharya, that is practiced; whoever does not aim at brahmacharya, that is not practiced at all. The son of the gods said: Then Manjushri, do you not practice brahmacharya? Manjushri said: Son of the gods, it is just so, I do not practice brahmacharya. Because I am neither Brahma nor practice. Thus and so forth, through the way of questions and answers, it is shown that whatever is clung to, that is not in accordance with the meaning of that thing; and the absence of clinging is precisely the good entry into the meaning of that thing. Furthermore, in the occasion of showing the profound meaning of the words spoken with the intention of the Tathagata that seem contradictory, and the meaning of non-arising, in that assembly there were gathered five Bodhisattvas who had cultivated the four dhyanas and attained the five superknowledges, those who had not yet attained forbearance, abiding and entering and emerging from samadhi. They remembered the past lives of having killed their parents and Arhats, because there was still residual karmic ripening, so those suffering minds could not endure the profound Dharma, and only relied on themselves and discriminated, unable to suppress those arising thoughts. For the sake of subduing them, the Blessed One subdued the mind of Manjushri, who had become a youth. Manjushri rose from his seat, draped his upper robe over one shoulder, took a sword in his right hand, sharpened it well, and ran separately towards where the Blessed One was. Then, the Blessed One said to Manjushri: Manjushri, I am already killed, already killed well, let me go! Why is that? Manjushri, which people to which
