Moreover, just as you, the great king, did not see any form, so too should you regard remorse. Just as you see remorse, so too should you regard all dharmas.” Such sounds arose. Then, Ajatashatru, having arisen from the samadhi that is free from all concepts and mental fabrications, immediately saw his own body and everything else as before. Afterwards, he inquired of Manjushri, “If I have not seen you here before, then where have you come from?” Manjushri replied, “Wherever your remorse has gone, that is where I have gone.” And so forth, and the king thus obtained forbearance towards the Dharma that accords. Thirty-two thousand women, having seen the miracles of Manjushri, generated the mind of unsurpassed Bodhi. Five hundred people from within the palace obtained the pure Dharma eye. From the city of Rajagriha (present-day Rajgir), hundreds of thousands of beings gathered at the gate of Rajagriha in order to make offerings to Manjushri. Manjushri pressed the great toe of his foot upon the great earth, and the entire great earth was transformed into being made of Vaidurya. There, the form of Manjushri, transformed into a youth, together with his retinue, was seen. Manjushri taught those beings the Dharma that would cause them to generate the mind of Bodhi and purify the Dharma eye. Afterwards, Manjushri returned from the dwelling of Ajatashatru. On the road, he saw a man who, because he had killed his mother, was grieving under a tree, and saying, “I will go to hell because of this sinful deed.” Because this person was one whom Manjushri was going to tame, Manjushri, in order to tame him, emanated another man together with his parents, and they quarreled because they disagreed about which way to go on the road, and as a result that man killed his parents. Afterwards, the emanated man went to the side of the one who had not killed his mother. That man thought, “Because this one is of the same kind as me, wherever this one goes, I will also go.” The emanated man wept and said, “I am going to Shakyamuni Buddha, because he is the protector of the unprotected.” Having said this, he left. The man who had not killed his mother also went along with him. The emanated man said to the Buddha, “I have killed my parents, please save me. What should I do?” The Buddha taught: “It is good that you speak the truth. However, by teaching the Dharma in a way that does not fixate on the mind with which the killing was done,” that man attained realization.

Having renounced and seeing him pass into sorrowlessness in the sky above, that person who had not killed his mother thought, "This person killed both his parents and yet passed into sorrowlessness. Why can't I pass into sorrowlessness, having killed only one mother?" Then, he prostrated to the Bhagavan and pleaded, "I killed my mother." The Bhagavan gave the same instruction as before. Then, from all the pores of that person's skin, the fire of hell beings arose, burning and without refuge. He pleaded to the Bhagavan, "I take refuge in you!" As soon as the Bhagavan's golden hand was placed on the crown of that person's head, all his feelings ceased and he became happy. He became extremely respectful to the Tathagata and requested to be ordained. The Tathagata granted it and taught the four truths. He saw the truth and, meditating on the path, became an Arhat. He then pleaded to the Bhagavan, "I wish to pass into sorrowlessness." Having said this, he rose into the sky above and burned his body with his own fire element, and hundreds of thousands of gods paid homage to him. Shariputra, seeing that person subdued in this way, was amazed. It is amazing to subdue one who possesses uninterruptedness. Knowing the various faculties of beings, this is the Buddha Bhagavan, and Manjushri, and other great Bodhisattvas who are armed with armor like him, but it is not the realm of anyone else, it is not the realm of hearers and self-realizers. The Bhagavan said: That is so, that is so. Shariputra, this Manjushri, when he was young, in the kalpa called Immaculate, in the scripture called Good Hand Tathagata, caused this Ajatashatru to generate the mind of perfect enlightenment. In the Immaculate Kalpa, three hundred million Buddhas appeared, and Manjushri turned the wheel of Dharma for all of them and prayed for them to live long. Because this Ajatashatru had only a small remnant of karma left, like the sons of gods descending from the thirty-three realms to Jambudvipa and then returning to their place. He descended to the hell beings who were like Pundarika, and his body did not feel the feeling of suffering, but towards the Buddhafield above.
