Ah! Guarding morality is like the steadfast Mount Meru. Diligence is indestructible like a vajra. Patience is unmoving like the great earth. Samadhi is profound like a treasure. Being beautiful through equanimity is like a sacred garland of flowers. Wisdom is deep and vast like the great ocean. Not clinging to anything is like the sky. Approaching the cause of the supreme fruit is like blooming flowers. Subduing non-Buddhists is like the king of lions. Completely destroying the demons of the gods is like a dragon or an elephant. Cutting off all sounds of afflictions is like a celestial sword. Being weary of many noises is like the vehicle of a Pratyekabuddha. Washing away the stains of afflictions is like clear water. Dispelling impure dirt is like a fierce hailstorm wind. Cutting off the gaps of all afflictions is like a sharp weapon. Protecting from all fears and panics is like a close friend. Saving from the enemies of opponents is like a deep pit or a castle. Liberating from all sufferings is like parents. Hiding the weak and helpless is like a dense forest. For those walking on a long summer road, it is like a cool shady tree. For those tormented by heat and thirst, it is like cold water. For the hungry, it is like delicious food. Making clothes for the naked. For those afflicted by heat, it is like thick clouds. For the poor and destitute, it is like a wish-fulfilling jewel. For those who are afraid of fear, it is refuge and dwelling. For crops, it is rain. For muddy water, it is a jewel that turns the water clear. Not harming the roots of virtue of many sentient beings, thereby showing the sacred realm of practice, making the retinue happy and satisfied. Encouraging and leading sentient beings into superior shame and embarrassment. Making the accumulation of merit and wisdom and so on have its splendor. Like emetics and laxatives that completely eliminate afflictions. Gathering the distracted mind is like the realm of practice of equanimity. Unobstructed courage is like a wheel of connected buckets. Focusing the mind on the object is like contemplating a beautiful image. Making patience steadfast is like the king of mountains, Mount Meru. Dharani is deep and vast like the great ocean. The feet of miraculous powers are unobstructed like the sky. Completely eliminating all habitual tendencies of obscurations, just as the hot sun melts ice.

Always immersed in meditation and the formless realm, as well as the correct path, having become like a sacred land of the precious jewel of all-knowing wisdom, even without deliberate effort, he excellently turns the great wheel of Dharma. Son of good family, in this way, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Ksitigarbha possesses such qualities of distinction, being immeasurable, countless, and inconceivable. As soon as the praise was spoken, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Ksitigarbha, along with a retinue of eighty billion, hundred thousand, kotis, and nayutas of Bodhisattvas, came from the south by the power of miraculous abilities, in the form of a renunciate, to the presence of the Bhagavan. They prostrated at his two feet, praised him with praises, made offerings with various offerings, and sat before him to listen to the Dharma. Then, the retinue offered and revered Ksitigarbha with assemblies of offerings. At that time, among that retinue, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva named "Doubting Reason," bowed to the Bhagavan and spoke thus: "Bhagavan, from where does this son of good family come? How long will he remain in this field? With how much merit and roots of virtue is he endowed that the Bhagavan praises him with various praises, and moreover, he praises the Bhagavan's inconceivable ocean of qualities? I have not seen him before, so I am amazed. Please, Bhagavan, explain it to me." The Bhagavan said: "Son of good family, desist! How much merit and roots of virtue this great being has is not something that all the retinues of gods and humans in the world can comprehend. If the Tathagata were to extensively explain the qualities and roots of virtue of that great being, then all the worlds, including gods and humans, would become confused and disbelieving." Then, the Bodhisattva "Doubting Reason" earnestly requested again, and the Bhagavan said: "Listen well and keep it in mind, and I will tell you a little bit. Just as that great being possesses immeasurable and inconceivable qualities of distinction. Like this, for the one who goes forth bravely..."
