He also said, "Burn what you have written and swallow it." The reply: Ṭīkā. If one contemplates the reality of things, that is the nature of the mind. It seems that you have not understood this. Because the illusions such as self-grasping have not entered the nature of the mind, they can be separated. And because there is no cause for realizing selflessness etc. to be separated from the mind, as it is said in the Pramāṇavārttika, "Consciousness is the dharma that grasps objects." Even so, if you follow the meaning of the wonderful three wheels as you say, you cannot think that the state of external objects is not different from the nature of the mind. The Protector Maitreya said, "Because the dharmadhātu is without difference." Nāgārjuna said, "Whatever is the emptiness of one, that is the emptiness of all." Āryadeva said, "One thing is the suchness of all things." In the Compendium it says, "The suchness of the past, etc., the suchness itself has no difference." It is only a sign that one merely recites the words of these sutras and treatises but does not ascertain their meaning. Therefore, since all dharmas do not go beyond the nature of the dharmadhātu, although the nature of the dharmadhātu has no difference, it is also reasonable to divide it into twenty from the point of view of the basis of emptiness. If you think that the suchness of all dharmas is not the same, then these scriptures that speak of their oneness are not composed by me. Please look at those scriptures carefully, and the distinctions of the sixteen emptinesses, eighteen emptinesses, twenty emptinesses, and three liberations, etc., which are spoken of in the sutras and treatises. If you also feel that you should burn what you have written and swallow it, then do whatever you want, old demon, and no one will stop you. These are not words spoken disrespectfully with hatred, but rather one's own weapons turning against oneself. Please forgive me without blaming me, and with compassion regard me as a like-minded friend. This is just an intervening verse. Furthermore, if one abides in ultimate nirvana, the mind will not regress at the time of attaining Buddhahood. Because there is a nirvana that does not abide in the ultimate reality of the truth. If you admit it, then you

In response to that: You say, "The cessation of mind, that is directly realized by the body." This statement, taken as evidence of the cessation of mind, is contradictory. The statement that it is only my own conceptual thought should also be examined. Although there was also a slight hesitation in saying "it should be so," if that thought of "it should be so" is only yours, then the hearts of the commentators in the noble land will not have that thought. If so, then the word of comparison "like a good scripture" also becomes contradictory. If you accept that, then those commentators and your teachers will also become ignorant, and your writings will also be devoid of the cause of the holy instructions, so you should also sprinkle the nectar of teachings that cools the suffering of heat, which is the useless effort of fruitless labor. Thus, the reply to the statement with the intervening verses: What is the use of your joking with just a little bit of sunlight? At the time of ultimate transformation and becoming a Buddha, this proposition that "the mind with grasping and apprehended does not cease, therefore it does not abide in Nirvana"—if there is a non-abiding Nirvana, then who accepts the pervasion that "there is a mind with grasping and apprehended"? The mind that is said to be "the cessation of mind, that is directly realized by the body," if it is not a mind with grasping and apprehended, then what is it? Therefore, although there are names such as great mind given to wisdom, that is wisdom without grasping and apprehended in reality, so there is no dispute over names. However, in the Buddha-ground, although the mind has ceased, in all ways it is not accepted that there is no wisdom. If the basis of non-abiding Nirvana is the wisdom that does not abide in samsara and nirvana, then that proposition that "the mind has not ceased" is also meaningless. If you think that "if there is wisdom, then it is sufficient to have mind," then what Chandrakirti said, "the wisdom of the cessation of mind realizes the Dharmakaya" will also become meaningless, so you will also become devoid of the cause of the holy instructions. Furthermore, the difference between consciousness and wisdom, as it says in the Lankavatara Sutra: "The mind performs all actions, wisdom distinguishes." And as it says in the Akshayamati Sutra: "Consciousness is impermanent, wisdom is permanent." Thus, as it is widely said in the sutras and treatises, in that inconceivable wisdom that does not even have the subtle traces of the dualistic appearance of grasping and apprehended,
