It is said that worldly people would mock someone who wants to not burn the ancestor of the monkey—the monkey itself; and it is strange that one's own wisdom fire does not burn the afflictions of one's own continuum, but burns the afflictions of others' continuums. Therefore, as stated in the Ornament of Sutras and the Ornament, etc., the realization of hearing, thinking, and meditating gradually continues, thereby directly realizing that itself. The intent of the Sutras and Tantras is consistent, and this has already been established by everyone. Therefore, there is no need to cite scriptural proofs for contrived and uncontrived yoga stages, etc. Also, in the debate text, the opponent says: "When things and non-things do not abide before the mind." Saying this, isn't it that non-things are also not in the realm of the mind? If so, then it becomes something that previously resided in front but later does not reside. Because "when" is defining the time. Therefore, in this way, previously at the time of hearing and thinking, the object and the subject seem to be distant, isolated, and unrelated. Afterwards, through gradually purifying dualistic appearances with calm abiding and insight, there arises something like the mind and non-duality, and the appearance of non-duality. First, the appearance of external objects is heavier, so it enters into imputation; in the middle, the appearance of the internal grasping mind is heavier, so it enters into dependence, and it is combined with one-sided samadhi and yoga abiding in mind-only. Finally, even the subtle dualistic appearances disappear, entering into perfect establishment, and it is proclaimed that the ground of yoga abiding in non-appearance is attained. What do those ignorant ones who have not seen or heard of the five grounds of yoga and the three grounds know? According to your statement, it seems contradictory, like that mind in front where the object does not abide, the dharma characteristic is: it becomes something without an object. Because it is intended to be the meaning of "without an object, utterly peaceful." If you admit that, then below, "If there is no object of knowledge, what is known? By what is it known?" will cause harm. The opponent says: Is there also no mind? If so, then both are absent simultaneously, so what distinguishes the difference between what exists and does not exist in front of what? Like discussing whether her brother exists or not in front of a woman without a vagina, that is an unprecedented statement of the wise. According to your statement, all objects and consciousness are free from extremes, and the great emptiness is nothing, clearly appearing to dissolve into that's heart. Because the valid cognition does not observe, and it also prevents valid cognition. Therefore, these have been said.
