There also arose debates claiming that it was what (the Prasangikas) said. Now, if asked whether the Prasangika system absolutely denies the establishment of conventional valid cognition, most ancient scholars unanimously affirmed this. After saying this, (Tsongkhapa) refuted, saying that it is extremely unreasonable for the Prasangika system to want conventional valid cognition to be established. Although later Prasangika scholars only considered conventional valid cognition to be established. Furthermore, the Venerable Lord of the Victorious Ones, Longchen Rabjam (Longchenpa), said: Although I have seen that previous scholars held either the position of completely denying or completely affirming the Prasangika school. It is flawed to cling to any one extreme. If we examine the mode of reality, there is no acceptance of freedom from elaboration. However, in the subsequent attainment, there is acceptance when examining all the phenomena of the ground, path, and result, such as whether they are or are not, exist or do not exist, etc., in terms of conventions. Therefore, it is necessary to distinguish in this way, and in the future, if someone can understand and explain this method, they should look to the power of this good explanation of mine. As stated in the great commentary Padma Karpo on the Wish-Fulfilling Treasure, if we do not examine and analyze from the perspective of the mode of reality, but only from the perspective of how things appear in worldly conventions, then, with regard to any phenomenon, whether it exists or does not exist, what should be abandoned or adopted, cause and effect, defilement and purification, etc., for so many conventional phenomena, there is a difference between being established and not established by the valid cognition that examines conventions, which determines each of them. Merely accepting this not only does not diminish the Prasangika system, but also makes it extremely beautiful. Otherwise, just as ultimate reality is free from extremes, it is not permissible to not accept anything in all conventions. Because, although in ultimate reality, one does not transcend the nature of phenomena that is the pacification of elaboration, in conventions, one must follow worldly conventions in how the elaboration of various phenomena appears, and the acceptance of existence and non-existence, being and non-being, is indispensable even in one's own system. As with the quote cited above, "Whatever exists in the world, I also consider to exist," and as it is also said in the text, "Seeing all things as both true and false, one will grasp both the real and the nature." Therefore, in the debate text, the Prasangikas acknowledge that they desire the great emptiness that is free from the four extremes, and then, as quoted earlier, say, "Also, there is no self-nature."

To say "contradictory" means: In the treatises of the Consequentialist school, such as "Engaging in Bodhisattva Behavior" and the "Perfection of Wisdom Sutra," the reasoning that refutes the self of phenomena and persons, the many contents that are explained, should not be regarded merely as refuting some aspects of elaboration, but should be understood as ultimately eliminating the two extremes and establishing the meaning of non-elaboration. This is what is taught, so there is no deviation from the commitment to emptiness that is free from the four extremes. Again, in the debate letter, it is said like this: Also in the commentary, it is said that the great chariots of the Consequentialist and Autonomist schools have no difference in the essential points of the ultimate intention. It is unreasonable to say this, because if so, it would be similar to the Mind-Only schools such as Dignāga and Dharmakīrti, and the Abhidharma and Vinaya schools. Otherwise, as Āryadeva said: If difference is the same, then explain the difference in reasoning. One would have to say the difference in reasoning, but there is no acceptance, and there is no reason, so the other basis is eliminated by valid cognition. The debating methods of Lekden and Chandrakīrti have also become like engaging in enticing children, and merely repeating the words of the learned, saying that there is a difference between whether or not one accepts self-characterized existence in conventional truth is also a meaningless waste of effort. In both Sutra and Tantra, each explains the ultimate truth of object and subject, etc., and states it as mentioned before. Answer: Both the Consequentialist and Autonomist schools are similar in that they are Madhyamikas who have established all internal and external phenomena as devoid of inherent existence through reasoning. They are also similar in that they both accept ultimate non-elaboration. Therefore, it is believed that these two have the same intention in the ultimate meaning, because the gate of peace is non-dual, and it explains dependent origination and emptiness. If, like you, you do not accept non-elaboration, then if these two systems have no difference in refuting true establishment through reasoning such as one-or-many separation and the fourfold negation of production, then what would establish the Autonomist as a Madhyamika and the common ground of being a proponent of entities? If the Autonomist has not realized the lack of inherent existence, then as they wish, they add the difference of ultimate truth to the object to be refuted, then it will be equally applicable to others who want to refute. The Mind-Only schools such as Dignāga and Dharmakīrti believe that the other-powered, ultimate consciousness, the storehouse consciousness, is truly established as empty of duality, which is refuted by both the Consequentialist and Autonomist schools. The Abhidharma and Vinaya schools believe in indivisible parti
