Having spoken thus, four hundred monks, without taking, their minds were completely liberated from the defilements. One hundred monks, with greatly agitated minds, although they were born in the Great Hell of Wailing with this body, upon hearing this Dharma, quickly arose from there and were born sharing the same fortune as the gods of Tushita, and in the first gathering of Maitreya, they were prophesied to attain the Arhatship. Furthermore, regarding the two extremes, the four extremes, the eight extremes, and the thirty-two attachments, if one does not prevent the elaborations or the objects of focus of those, and if one only prevents the truly established existence on top of those, then by grasping non-existence, that itself should be able to eliminate all extremes. However, it is not reasonable by logic, and you have not even accepted it. Thus, that only prevents the conceptual thought of grasping at true existence, but it does not have the ability to generate non-conceptual wisdom that is free from all elaborations and conceptual thoughts, because grasping at non-existence is also not free from conceptual thought, and if one is free from that conceptual thought, then you assert that one does not realize the true nature. Moreover, if one does not grasp this unmistaken appearance of convention, and when analyzing the ultimate truth with reasoning, there is not even a particle that can withstand analysis and be established, but merely applies the term "non-existent," without preventing what exists in convention, and understands it in a way that is like preventing the truly established existence on top of that, then the two appearances of knowing the difference between non-existence and non-existence become different entities of existence and non-existence. Even if one knows such non-existence, it cannot reduce even a little bit of attachment, etc. No matter how much one familiarizes oneself with such emptiness, it will not cause the perception of grasping at those conventional phenomena to disappear, and if that does not disappear, then how can attachment, hatred, etc., be destroyed? The all-powerful King of Conquerors, Longchen Rabjam, in the Treasury of Wish-Fulfilling Jewels, when refuting the tenets of those who assert that appearance and emptiness are different entities, such as the lower divisions of the Autonomist school, like Master Shri Guhya, said: "Emptiness that is not appearance is impossible in both truths, and it cannot be realized, and if it becomes a different entity, then it is not suitable as what is to be abandoned and what is to be relied upon. Just as knowing that the sky is empty does not help when anger arises towards an enemy, likewise, clinging to false appearance and knowing emptiness as a separate entity is of no benefit whatsoever. What is the use of realizing such emptiness?"

As it is said, it can be made unpolluted by desire through reasoning. As it is also said in the Samadhiraja Sutra: Whoever has a concept of women, their desire will increase greatly. If these concepts are destroyed, they will not be polluted by desire. Thus it is said. If there is no concept, how can love and so on be cultivated? Some may think that this needs to be explained as not having a concept of true existence, and not just not having a concept of a particular object. Although it needs to be explained in this way to make it easy for beginners to understand, if it is thought that not having a concept of true existence does not prevent the arising of a concept of a particular object, but only refutes the independently existing true existence, then faults will arise as before. In reality, even if there is nothing that can be taken as an object, in conventional terms, the two, object and non-object, are not contradictory. If one does not understand the profound view of the eightfold qualities, and the principle that emptiness and dependent arising are the same in the Middle Way, then for the Madhyamikas, just as the realists make false arguments, all the Mahayana thoughts of aimless love and so on will be seen as contradictory. If it is thought that for aimless love, it is also necessary to add the qualification of "no true aim," and not to explain it as aimlessness that refutes all elaboration, like the non-verbal ultimate truth, then for those who have realized the ultimate truth of the inseparability of the two truths, the non-verbal ultimate truth, the ultimate equality free from elaboration, they constantly abide in the Dharmadhatu, without wavering, and the Buddhas do not have various concepts such as the difference between samsara and nirvana, and Manjushri and other Bodhisattvas also realize that all dharmas are the nature of the Dharmadhatu, then it must be admitted that they do not have the love of the subject, because they have already directly realized the non-verbal ultimate truth free from elaboration. Therefore, for those who respect this teaching, what could be a more serious mistake than this? Even thinking and speaking should be avoided. As mentioned above, understanding through the scriptures and the reasoning that accords with the meaning of the scriptures, all these prove that the so-called boundless Middle Way is the supreme path of the Victorious Ones. Therefore, all those who hold this view are not just picking up Ha Shang's broken shoes, because before Ha Shang appeared, the Dharma of the Victorious Shakya Lion
