If so, adding the two contradictory pervasions of clear and unclear makes four. Combining these four with the real and the inverted, there are the so-called eight pervasions, which are established by figures like Chapha. Taking these as examples, whether it is "is" or "is not," whether it is "conscious" or "unconscious," whether it is the "contradictory reason" or the "contradictory property" of the opponent, whether it is "reversing" or "not reversing," whether it is the application of "self-awareness" or "other-awareness," and so on, these distinctions seem easy to understand just by looking at them. However, if most of them are only for the sake of creating strange and lengthy arguments, then even if one understands and masters them, they are not of great help in understanding the meaning of the scriptures. Moreover, if one is completely attached to such explanations that rely on words, then even if one makes promises, one will not be able to achieve one's goals. An example will be given below to illustrate this point. Therefore, no matter how much one studies and masters such methods, it is not surprising to hear flattery spoken to others. Therefore, even if one says things like "a bodiless demon dwells in the heart," one should not act as the sutra says: "When the ignorant are refuted by others, they angrily suppress them and speak harsh words." I say this: "Although it is known as answering words with words, I do not answer with harsh words, but only with rational answers. Using words to attack is the custom of the unruly. The Victorious One has taught monks to do this. If the refutation that is spoken turns back on oneself, even without harsh words, the expression becomes worse than before. For those who are defeated by the path of reason, whether oneself or others are angry, it is one's own shame." I have also said this. In short, like the meaning of the noble one's words, "If emptiness of inherent existence itself is reversed," and so on. For those who have vowed to abandon elaboration, if emptiness of inherent existence is reversed and becomes a vow of inherent existence, what fault do you, who speak of reason, see? Is it a vow of inherent existence? Seeing that all phenomena, such as existence and non-existence, emptiness and non-emptiness, are without inherent existence, and that there is no trivial elaboration, not only is the meaning of emptiness of inherent existence not reversed, but there is not even attachment to the literal meaning of the word "emptiness of inherent existence." Therefore, the meaning of that great word "emptiness of inherent existence" is completely experienced here. These are not like the views of cunning that do not admit anything, for the nature of elaboration is not inherently an object.
