If there is no patience, how can there be attainment? If there is no patience, then for those who have the concept of not seeking the reality of things, is there corresponding patience? The Buddha said: Subhuti, it is just so. For those who have the concept of the non-existence of things, there is also no corresponding patience. Furthermore, Subhuti, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, there is no concept of things, nor is there a concept of the non-existence of things. Subhuti, whoever has no concept of things and no concept of the non-existence of things, that is the corresponding patience of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva. Moreover, in the Extensive Mother Sutra, it says: When a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, there is no characteristic of phenomena, no recollection, and no mental engagement. It also says: Form itself is the realm of phenomena, and the realm of phenomena itself is form. It also says: If one sees any phenomena apart from the realm of phenomena, one will not abide in unexcelled, perfect enlightenment. And so on. In the Twenty-five Thousand Verse Perfection of Wisdom Sutra, it says: If a son or daughter of a Bodhisattva lineage, unskilled in means, treats this Perfection of Wisdom as an object of focus, that is exhausting the Perfection of Wisdom, that is abandoning the Perfection of Wisdom for a long time. It also says: Similarly, those who cling to characteristics, and thereby become arrogant, and are attached to objects of focus, they are exhausting the Perfection of Wisdom and abandoning it for a long time. Similarly, it is taught by applying "form is emptiness" and so on. For those phenomena, the absence of the concept of focusing on this and that is skillful means and the true teaching of the Perfection of Wisdom. In this way, all the Mother Sutra scriptures that appear to have attachment are seemingly the Perfection of Wisdom, while those that teach non-attachment are the true Perfection of Wisdom. In the Eight Thousand Verse Perfection of Wisdom Sutra, it says: Kausika, even if one individually examines all phenomena in that way, but has no attachment or non-attachment to any phenomenon, that is the Perfection of Wisdom of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva. It also says: Kausika, in the future, some sons or daughters of good family will teach false Perfections of Wisdom.

will arise, and so on. The artificial destroys those who have entered into perfect enlightenment, saying that this Prajñāpāramitā should not be shown with meaning and words. When answering what the artificial is, it is explained in detail by applying it to showing the aspects of impermanence, suffering, and selflessness, etc., of form and so on. Why is that? If form itself does not exist, where would there be a view of permanence and impermanence? Because form is empty by its very nature of form, and so on. Son of lineage, come here and meditate on the Prajñāpāramitā! Do not look at any dharma, do not abide in anything. Why is that? Because for the Prajñāpāramitā, there is nothing to abide in or transcend, because it shows that all dharmas are empty of nature, without arising, ceasing, taking, or discarding, so it is said that the Prajñāpāramitā is not artificial, but is applied to form and so on and explained in detail. The way of generating immeasurable merit by showing it so well is told. In the Sutra Requested by Dhāraṇīśvara, it says: What is called emptiness is a euphemism for not having manifest attachment and not having grasping. Ultimately, what is called emptiness, there is no dharma that can be an object, but it is also said to be emptiness. And so on. In the Sutra of Severing the Veils of Karma, it says: Thinking of emptiness is an obscuration. Mañjuśrī, in short, all those objects, whether defiled or purified, should be regarded as its obscuration. And so on. According to the meaning of these, in the Ornament for Clear Realization, in the chapter on the basis of knowledge, it says: Not this shore, that shore, nor the edge, Not abiding in between them, Knowing the equality of all times, Is called Prajñāpāramitā. That is from the door of focusing on characteristics, Distant because it is not a means, That is by those skilled in means, Explained as being truly near. Form, etc., aggregates, emptiness, And the dharmas included in the three times, Giving, etc., the aspects of enlightenment, Thoughts of conduct are unfavorable. On giving, etc., there is no self-grasping, Others who combine with that, That is because it prevents the extreme of attachment, Attachment to the Victorious Ones, etc., is slight. The path of dharma is by nature, Because of solitude, it is very profound, Knowing that all dharmas are of one nature, With attachment.
