At this time, since there is nothing to distinguish between the primary and secondary, the real and the attachment, it is a meaningless empty talk, a debate devoid of results, merely entrusting words to the wind. As stated in the Treasury of Knowledge: "For the sake of deception, even Brahma uses tricks." It went according to what was said. Furthermore, it is said, "The word 'also' summarizes the previous and subsequent examples, and the explanation is as previously stated. Moreover, if it is said that craving is not an affliction, then it is established. Therefore, it is avoided to divide both the example and the meaning into two each." It is said that due to the difficulty of explaining it as it is at this time, the accumulation of many 'also' words seems to be a characteristic of being skilled in the nuances of rhetoric. Because what can be understood is nothing more than dividing afflictions into those that exist and those that do not, there is nothing more than before. The example is, all examples of existence are ignorant, how to offer examples of non-existence? Furthermore, if craving is not an affliction, then you should also acknowledge that pride also has this. If non-afflictive craving exists, then pride must also exist, which should be reasonable. The Noble One said that from the initial eighth, etc., to the point of temporarily setting aside, there does not seem to be much to investigate. And "the instructions of the non-Chinese, non-Tibetan Pisacha," and "it seems necessary to investigate who the previous teacher was," etc., seem to be words needed at this time. Here, when proving that emptiness must be realized, even if it is said that examining the opposite, from the cause to the afflictions, and the way fruits arise, etc., is relevant, but because of this relevance, it has already been examined in detail in the root text. For actions like those of Maudgalyayana, craving is not necessary, so it can be answered that according to you, it is okay even without craving. Because after attaining Arhatship, it is not necessary to nourish with craving, but the ripening of the actions that complete the basis previously nourished by the craving that projects the body of that lifetime will not occur without the previous nourishment of craving. If it were to occur, then all the actions that accomplish all sentient beings would not be nourished solely by the present craving. Therefore, craving is said to be the cause of existence, seeking all times, places, and things. And the meaning of craving for existence, etc., and "actions are like fruits with husks," etc.
