Because it is thought that those two in the continuum of the impure seventh ground are like that. It is not possible to think so, because if, in general, the wisdom that realizes the two selflessnesses and the obscuration to knowledge are not contradictory, then even if it is grasped by limitless accumulations, there is no contradiction. And, because bodhisattvas attain omniscience having abandoned the two obscurations, it is taught that phenomena are selfless, therefore it contradicts the scriptural authority. If it is thought that the meaning of the scriptural authority is that the wisdom that realizes selflessness is grasped by limitless accumulations for the sake of destroying the imprints of true clinging, then that is not so, it will be explained below. If it is thought, why does the realization of selflessness that is grasped by limitless accumulations not abandon the obscuration to knowledge? Just as the wisdom that realizes the two selflessnesses that exists in the mindstream of the noble bodhisattva of the seventh ground, even if it is grasped by the sacred accumulation of two countless eons, it does not harm the obscuration to knowledge even slightly, likewise, it is possible that even if one more countless eon of accumulation is grasped, it will not harm it. That is not possible, because true clinging is the afflictive obscuration and its imprint is the obscuration to knowledge, therefore, whatever contradicts true clinging, the wisdom that realizes the two selflessnesses, is able to abandon the seed of true clinging and so forth, likewise, again through habituation, why is it that whatever imprint of true clinging becomes the obscuration to knowledge is not abandoned from the root? If that is so, because the realization of the Hearers is swift, they are able to abandon the afflictive obscuration, the seed of true clinging and so forth, in three lifetimes, likewise, even if it is not grasped by limitless accumulations, merely through habituating that realization of selflessness, it is possible that there is even one person who quickly abandons in a short time that which is called the obscuration to knowledge, the imprint of true clinging, because there is no harm whatsoever to the reasoning of factual force, therefore, the consequence that Hearer arhats will become Buddhas is very dangerous to return to, so please be mindful. Therefore, the great Tsongkhapa named the imprint of true clinging as the obscuration to knowledge, because below the seventh ground it is not merely the obscuration to knowledge that is abandoned, but rather due to the difference in the greatness of the action, true clinging is called the afflictive obscuration and its imprint is called the obscuration to knowledge, it is merely a custom of naming, I myself think that there is no difference from the views of the ancient ones. If that is not so, then there is no antidote that realizes through valid cognition that contradicts the obscuration to knowledge, because the two selflessnesses

Merely understanding this is not contradictory to it, but no other antidote can be found besides it, so even those who have abandoned the obscurations of knowledge will find it difficult. Furthermore, if a certain habitual tendency obstructs the complete cutting off of all knowable objects, then why does it not obstruct when it manifests? If it does not obstruct even when it manifests, then the habitual tendency will even less obstruct it. It is seen as difficult to establish the position that the obscurations of knowledge are not abandoned in the seven impure grounds, so it is explained according to the views of the ancients, and it is not merely clinging to it like clinging to one's father's bowl. Now is the time to consider the reasoning for proving that true clinging is a klesha obscuration. Moreover, the incarnate one with discriminating wisdom said: Furthermore, if the Hearers and Solitary Realizers Arhats do not realize the emptiness on top of all things called aggregates, etc., then, that (Hearers and Solitary Realizers Arhats) has the property of not being liberated from samsara, because they have not abandoned the root of samsara—the true clinging that grasps the aggregates, etc., as being established by their own characteristics. The pervasion (three): The Entering the Middle Way says: Your yoga sees selflessness, and cannot realize the nature of forms, etc., because attachment, etc., arise from focusing on forms, because the nature of it is not realized. And "Initially clinging to 'I,' then generating attachment to 'mine,' like a floating bucket, beings without autonomy," etc., as long as there is clinging to the self and the self's eyes, etc., as being established by their own characteristics, the cycle of samsara will not cease. The commentary on the Sixty Stanzas of Reasoning also says: Those who focus on the nature of forms, etc., but want to abandon the afflictions, it is impossible for them to abandon the afflictions. Etc., because it is impossible to avoid the harm of scriptures and reasoning, it is unreasonable. Also, your citation of the Entering the Middle Way commentary as evidence is not understanding its meaning. The Entering the Middle Way commentary is consistent with the previous text, because clinging to the nature of forms, etc., is inverted, so one cannot realize the selflessness of persons, because one focuses on the aggregates that are the basis for imputation of self. As the Precious Garland says: As long as there is clinging to the aggregates, etc., it is clearly explained with scriptural evidence used as proof.
