The arising afflictions, etc. The basis of the place is also of four types, namely, the place of abiding in one view, etc., are said to be four. Moreover, among these four, the basis of the place of ignorance is the most powerful. Because that cannot be destroyed by the wisdom of the Hearers and Solitary Realizers, but it is to be destroyed by the wisdom of the Tathagata's enlightenment. World Honored One, the basis of the place of ignorance is the most powerful! World Honored One, just as the three existences arise from the cause of contaminated karma due to the condition of grasping, similarly, World Honored One, due to the condition of the basis of the place of ignorance, the three mind-made bodies of the Arhats, the Solitary Buddhas, and the Bodhisattvas who have attained power arise from the cause of uncontaminated karma. And so on. World Honored One, those who have the nature of distinguishing good and bad are not those who have attained Nirvana, but World Honored One, those who have equal wisdom attain Nirvana. And so on. Furthermore, liberation and equal wisdom alone are Nirvana, and the Hearers and Solitary Realizers do not have such ultimate abandonment and realization, therefore it is not ultimate liberation. Moreover, the near afflictions that obscure strength and fearlessness, etc., as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River, arise from the basis of the habit of ignorance, so it is said that if that is abandoned, the lion's roar of the all-knowing one will be proclaimed. Ultimately, there is only one vehicle that is liberated into the Dharmakaya, and there is no other kind. Moreover, ultimate liberation arises from realizing the profound truth of the Sugata-garbha, but that is not the realm of Hearers and Solitary Realizers. Such an inconceivable truth of the cessation of suffering is not the realm of the wisdom of Hearers and Solitary Realizers, just as a blind person cannot see the sun. Similarly, in the auto-commentary of the "Entering the Middle Way", when establishing the ultimate one vehicle, a sutra is quoted: "O Kashyapa, if all dharmas are realized as equality, then that is Nirvana, and that is one, not two or three." And in the "Uttaratantra": "The Nirvana of the Buddha is non-duality in the ultimate sense." Therefore, without attaining Buddhahood, Nirvana cannot be attained. Just as without abandoning light and rays, the sun cannot be seen. And so on, sutras and treatises.

Just as the immaculate intention of the great ones, enlightenment is attained by realizing the ultimate equality that is not a mere concept of emptiness in all respects. As it is extensively taught that ultimate nirvana cannot be attained without realizing this, the teaching in this treatise is also a special essence of the Mahayana. Therefore, in this degenerate age, I will try my best to clarify its meaning with a mind of cherishing the Buddha and the Dharma, and I ask you not to be offended. Furthermore, the incarnate lama said: "The self-grasping of phenomena is a general ignorance, and the self-grasping of the individual is a specific aspect of it, like a tree and its leaves. The Hearers and Solitary Realizers, the Arhats, have not realized the emptiness of all knowable objects such as the aggregates. The emptiness they realize is a limited emptiness. The way Bodhisattvas abandon what is to be abandoned is that on the path of seeing in the Great Vehicle, they abandon the imputed part of the two obscurations. Then, gradually abandoning the two obscurations equally, from the eighth bhumi onwards, although there are no afflictions, they think that only the obscuration of knowledge is abandoned from then on, so do not mix it with Tibetan presumptions." Although he said this, I did not see that there was any essence to it. In that case, if one is a person who abandons self-grasping of phenomena, then it necessarily follows that one is a person who abandons the obscuration of knowledge. It follows that this is what is desired. If this is accepted, then the Hearers and Solitary Realizers, the Arhats, would necessarily become Buddhas, because they have abandoned the afflictions and the self-grasping of phenomena. Because they have abandoned all afflictions. Because in this system, any self-grasping of phenomena, any grasping at truth, is considered an affliction. He said. A response to this should be made: To that previous consequence, I, who hold the views of the early Tibetan schools, agree, because it is a response that is in accordance with the meaning. Because in their system, the Hearers and Solitary Realizers, the Arhats, are not people who have abandoned all self-grasping of phenomena. Therefore, the Hearers and Solitary Realizers, the Arhats, would necessarily become Buddhas, because they have abandoned the afflictions and the self-grasping of phenomena, etc. The meaning of this is that in this system, the act of refuting by considering the self-grasping of phenomena as an affliction is like shooting an arrow that does not hit the target, and is completely futile. The Prasangika Madhyamikas of the early Tibetan schools
