Then, wouldn't the established tenets measured by it also become false? If so, wouldn't it be reasonable to say that the emptiness is measured and determined by the false valid cognition of discrimination, and that the meditation on emptiness is also not reasonable for that reason? Here, we do not have a case of establishing a tenet that the meaning established by valid cognition is emptiness, and that the object of reference is truly established. For what reason? Because without touching or relying on the object to be examined, such as a vase, one would never grasp the non-existence of that object, such as the non-existence of a vase, as something separate. Therefore, the emptiness of the vase and the emptiness of the vase, such as the emptiness of the name or the temporary emptiness, is also a part of the exclusion or elimination of other objects. In this way, whatever is false by nature, its non-existence is also clearly considered to be false. Then, what is the use of meditating that all things are non-existent? Because both existence and non-existence are equally false, and neither is true. For the time being, the antidote to being bound to existence by the habitual clinging to existence from beginningless time is merely to become accustomed to the non-existence of things. Since both existence and non-existence are false, just as when one dreams of having a child and then dying in a dream and suffering, the thought of not having a child is an obstacle to the thought of having that child, and that is also false. Therefore, just as the fire produced by rubbing two sticks together burns both sticks, the fire of wisdom that analyzes all things as devoid of truth burns all the dense forests of the objects of reference established as existence and non-existence, and when one abides in the wisdom of pacifying all elaborations, it is the great Madhyamaka that is free from all commitments. As it is also said in the sutra: The Bodhisattva who practices in this way, wise and clear, cuts off attachment and goes to beings, goes without attachment. Like the sun dwelling brightly, free from Rahu, like fire burning grass, trees, and forests. When the Bodhisattva sees all phenomena as naturally pure and completely pure with the perfection of wisdom, the agent is also not found, and all phenomena are not found. This is the supreme practice of the perfection of wisdom. And

Also, in the treatise of Madhyamaka, it is said: "To say 'exists' is to cling to permanence, to say 'does not exist' is to regard as annihilation. Therefore, the wise should not abide in 'existence' and 'non-existence'." Thus it is said. Second, showing the true meaning. Because of that reason, by examining in detail in that way, it is not possible for any phenomenon to exist without a cause, nor does it arise from a permanent cause. All external dharmas arise depending on their respective causes and conditions, just like a sprout from a seed, and so on. The internal sense bases arise depending on a continuous chain of cause and effect from ignorance to old age and death. Such phenomena, their respective causes and conditions, whether each one individually, or all the assembled conditions, the result does not reside in them. Because each one individually cannot produce the result, and in the assembled there is nothing that is different from the causes. When the result appears, the result does not come from somewhere other than those causes and conditions, nor does a result that is essentially different from the cause exist here, having been established by relying on the cause, nor does it go from here to somewhere else when it ceases. Therefore, all dharmas are empty of inherent nature. Thus it is said. Here, by "individual" it negates self-origination and other-origination, and by "assembled" it negates arising from both, that is, it is also explained as negating the four extremes. Second, all these internal and external phenomena, which are considered true by ignorance, are no different from illusions. Whatever horses, elephants, etc., are conjured up by illusion, and whatever phenomena are conjured up by causes, where do they come from and where do they go? Please examine them, and you will surely see that the two are the same. If there is some truth in this, then when this appears, it should come here from somewhere else, and when it ceases, it should go from here to somewhere else, but there is nothing at the beginning or the end. Whatever result, when the causes that produce it come near or gather together, its own nature will be seen by the power of that cause alone. If that cause is not present, it is impossible for it to be established in its own nature. Therefore, how can there be any truth established by its own essence in something that is fabricated by other causes and conditions, like an image? There is not. In that way, dependent origination is permanence and annihilation...
