It is not appropriate to analyze intellectually. First, according to you, since the knowable and the knower have no self-nature, therefore analysis is also unreasonable, is it? Although the concept of the object-possessor and the object to be analyzed, both of which are objects, are not established in essence, they are merely established by relying on and depending on each other. Therefore, just as in the world all analysis is expressed by relying on the concept of fame that is pleasant without analysis, this is very reasonable. To this, they say: In order to realize that all the dharmas of discrimination and proliferation are untrue, when the wisdom or analysis that analyzes all objects as not being established by their own nature is used to analyze, since that analysis cannot analyze itself as its own object, therefore, the first analysis also needs the second analysis to analyze, and so on, so your analysis will be endless, is it? When the object of analysis—all dharmas—is analyzed as unreal, and it is determined not to dwell on any side such as arising and non-arising, then, for analysis, there is no support or object to be grasped as "this." When there is no object or support to be aimed at, the object-possessor will not arise, because all proliferation is pacified. Therefore, that analysis also, like ripples on water, naturally passes into nirvana in the state of dharmata. Second, according to the view of any proponent of things, these two, object and consciousness, are in a very difficult state to prove, because there is no valid means of proof. That is, if the object is established as existing merely because consciousness is established as valid, because this valid consciousness itself sees its existence, then, what is the reason or basis for consciousness to truly exist? To this, consciousness itself is not established in ultimate truth, and if it is established by other consciousnesses, it will be endless, therefore there is no other establisher. However, if it is said that it is established by holding this obvious true knowable or measurable, then, what basis is there for the existence of the knowable? Its basis is consciousness, if object and consciousness establish each other, then, such existence is not established by its own entity, but exists by relying on mutual dependence, like long and short. Therefore, when establishing either one, the other cannot be used as an example, because.

Because that is not established. Therefore, in the ultimate sense, neither exists. If there is no son, then there is no father, because there is no mutual establishment. If there is no father, then from where does the son come? Because there is no cause, both are unreasonable. Just as the establisher, the son, does not exist, and the father does not exist before it, so here, among the two, consciousness and object, whichever is taken as the established, if it is not established beforehand like a son, before it, its establisher, like a father, cannot exist, and ultimately both do not exist. Thus it is said. Furthermore, they think like this: It should not be said that they are established by relying on each other. However, consciousness is the result of the knowable, so why can't it be known that the knowable exists? For example, a sprout arises from a seed, and by relying on the sprout, it can be known that the seed exists. The analogy is not the same. The sprout knows the seed, not just the sprout itself knows, but the consciousness other than the sprout infers from the sprout as a result, and thus knows that this has a previous cause, the seed. That is because by observing the ground and the sprout separately, it can be known by the measure that determines the cause-and-effect relationship. If the measure that determines the cause-and-effect relationship has not preceded, it cannot be known merely by seeing the sprout. Because in order to know the knowable, from what reason is it known that consciousness as a sign exists? Because in the ultimate sense, neither self-awareness nor other-awareness can be established. Therefore, for the school that accepts the existence of things, it is difficult to establish conventions, while for the school that accepts that they are imputed, it is very reasonable, as it is said. Second, there are three aspects to determine: without cause, emptiness of essence, and fruit without aspiration. First, there are two aspects: refuting the inverted and showing the true meaning. First, there are two aspects: refuting the absence of cause and refuting the non-cause as cause. First, the materialists and others say that, like the sharpness of thorns and the splendor of peacock feathers, the world arises by itself without being made by any author. To this, first of all, worldly perception sees that all results have their own causes of arising, but it is impossible to see arising without a cause, as it is said in the Pramāṇavārttika: When what exists, what arises.
