However, when obtaining various different forms, each one is a different moment, but in reality, it is not the only one. If it were, then the same examination would apply there as well. If it is said that the forms of knowledge distinguished by variations, sounds, etc., appear as various different states, that is only an appearance dependent on temporary conditions, and not the truth. Just as a white crystal ball is changed by paint, which is not true to the nature of the crystal. Even if it is allowed that other forms distinguished by objects, such as sound knowledge, etc., are not true, then please tell me what the essence of that true nature is. The answer to that is that mere knowledge that is not distinguished by objects follows without difference for all previous and subsequent knowledge, so the oneness of mere knowledge is that. If that were the case, then all beings would become one, because it is impossible for the mere fact of being knowledge not to follow for all knowledge streams. Furthermore, the sentient self and the non-sentient nature, etc., the twenty-four, would also become one, because they are the same in the mere fact of existence and without difference. In this way, for all knowledge, although from the aspect of excluding other non-knowledge or returning from others, mere knowledge is retractable, that is imputed. In reality, pure knowledge separate from objects is impossible, like a formless image. Therefore, for all knowable things, the exclusion of dissimilar kinds, the return that follows, is called the universal, which is the supreme term of our own inner school, and here too that meaning is implied. If it is said that even if the different situations that have become individual states are untrue or inverted, why is there not a single nature in which all individuals are undifferentiatedly the same? That is the wrong conception of the universal-possessing that mistakes differences for oneness. In this way, after excluding all individuals, what is the common similar basis or the only universal on the other shore? There is nothing. Secondly, the logicians and others say that, in this way, the knowable is included in the six meanings of words, what are the six? As the verse says: substance and गुण(藏文:ཡོན་ཏན།,梵文天城体:गुण,梵文罗马拟音:guṇa,汉语字面意思: गुण)action and universal, difference collection six aspects. As it is said, substance has nine types, namely self and

Time, particles, directions, space, and earth, water, fire, and wind. The first five are permanent substances, while the latter four are considered impermanent substances. The characteristic of substance is also considered to be the basis of action and qualities. There are twenty-four qualities: eleven, such as having number, are qualities of other substances, and thirteen, such as happiness and suffering, are considered qualities dependent on the self. Action consists of five: stretching, contracting, lifting, placing, and moving. Commonality has two types: pervasive and limited. Particularity is the nature of distinguishing. Combination is like mutual connection, which starts from two types of combination: different and non-different, thus creating many distinctions. The self is considered to be pervasive and permanent like space, therefore it is not consciousness. If it were consciousness, it would become impermanent and non-pervasive. Therefore, the self has no consciousness, but because it combines with consciousness, it clings to happiness, etc., as belonging to the self. In reality, happiness, etc., are considered to be internal matter. The self is pervasive in everything, and this is established by seeing the qualities of the self. Therefore, that which has no mind is not the self, because it is without mind, like a pot or a blanket. If the self is considered to be the agent of action and the basis of happiness and suffering, then those without mind could never be the basis of happiness, etc. However, even if the self itself is not of the nature of mind, if it possesses similarity to mind, will it then know objects through its blessing? If so, then the assertion that the self does not know objects, or the admission that it has no knowledge, would collapse, because it would become of the nature of knowing objects. If so, then the self, which previously did not know, now knows, and therefore becomes impermanent. If the self is unchanging and permanent, then what action of knowing objects does the mind perform on that self? It does nothing. Because the self is immutable, it cannot perform the action of transforming its former nature into something else, just as paint cannot turn space blue, etc. Therefore, the material body without knowledge, separated from all action, this space, is merely assumed to be the self. Alas, look at the wisdom of the rational! The third is refuting arguments, with two arguments: the unreasonableness of cause and effect, and the unreasonableness of compassion. First,
