Some have no difference at all. Therefore, without understanding that the self is merely imputed in dependence on the aggregates as empty, the aggregates themselves are definitely existent, but know that there is no such thing as a permanent, single, independent self that controls or becomes the master of these aggregates. Even knowing this does not abandon the subtle clinging to self. Therefore, until the emptiness of the self as being without inherent existence is seen, even if the permanent self is abandoned, as long as there is clinging to the aggregates of one's own continuum, the clinging to self will not be reversed. As it says in the Precious Garland: As long as there is clinging to the aggregates, So long there is clinging to self to that. If there is clinging to self, there is also karma, And from that also there is birth. Here, it means that even if one only sees the emptiness of the person (Sanskrit: Pudgala) as being without inherent existence, and does not observe the non-existence of a permanent self, etc., as long as there is clinging to the aggregates, the clinging to self cannot be reversed. Many other explanations are not the views of Nagarjuna and Chandrakirti. The Introduction also says: When one realizes selflessness, one abandons the permanent self, And one does not want this as a basis for clinging to self. Therefore, it is very strange to say that knowing selflessness completely Uproots the view of self. Like seeing a snake's nest in the cracks of one's own house wall, Dispelling the doubt that "there is no elephant here," And trying to eliminate the fear of snakes, Alas, it is simply becoming a laughingstock to others. Therefore, here, some boast that there is a great difference between the selflessness of phenomena and the selflessness of persons, and think that the emptiness of the selflessness of phenomena is not necessary, and that liberation can be achieved only through the selflessness of persons. The intention of these people is: whatever is existent is not empty, and the self, which has never existed at all, is like a rabbit's horn, something that does not exist in reality. Therefore, they wonder what is the use of the selflessness of phenomena, and they argue without understanding that the self of persons is merely imputed in dependence on the aggregates. If one examines carefully, one will find that both selflessnesses are of the same taste, merely emptiness imputed in dependence, and there is no difference at all. Therefore, the Hearers and Solitary Realizers have the selflessness of phenomena or the realization of emptiness. If they did not have the realization of emptiness, they would not be able to abandon the afflictions, which is proven by the reasoning of factual strength. In this regard, the Hearers and Solitary Realizers, the Arhats, realize the emptiness of the person as being without inherent existence, that is the self of phenomena.

It should also be understood as a distinction of non-existence, and also as emptiness. If it is thought that all knowable things such as aggregates are empty, then it will not work in any way. Because this selflessness is for the liberation of beings. In the auto-commentary on the "Entering the Middle Way," it is said that two selflessnesses are taught as antidotes to the two obscurations. Previously, the view that the Hearers and Solitary Realizers had realized emptiness was refuted, saying that the Hearers and Solitary Realizers had not fully cultivated selflessness. Moreover, the sixteen emptinesses are not common to the Mahayana. Therefore, the aspect of the Hearers and Solitary Realizers not fully realizing the selflessness of phenomena is called not realizing the selflessness of phenomena, which is a tone of belittling and negation. Because the sutras say that the wisdom of the Hearers and Solitary Realizers is as small as the space inside a mustard seed eaten by insects. Moreover, in order to negate that there is another path to liberation by abandoning emptiness, and to negate that there are only two paths to peace, it is said that the Hearers and Solitary Realizers Arhats have a one-sided emptiness of knowing the suchness that arises from relying on the self, and it is important to understand these two without contradiction. Otherwise, the Prajnaparamita Sutra says that those who cling to reality have no liberation, and that the three bodhis are obtained by relying on emptiness. Among them, the three types such as the base consciousness are also separated, and the difference between the distance between the base consciousness and the fruition mother is explained, etc. How should this be understood? Therefore, in general, emptiness is the only gate of peace, so it is pervasive that any of the three bodhi must be obtained by relying on it. However, beginners with a mind that clings to emptiness as a real thing, thinking that if they realize it, they will realize everything at once, and if they do not realize it, they will not realize anything, do not put all your energy on this kind of vow. If so, the foundation of all sutras and commentaries will be confused. If one sees one thing as emptiness, then it is pervasive to see the emptiness of all things as emptiness, then in the Mahayana, there will be no need to establish the sixteen emptinesses, etc. with various kinds of reasoning, nor will there be the asceticism of the three great incalculable kalpas, etc., and when rising from ground to ground, the view will become better and better, distinguished by the dharmadhatu suddenly separating from defilements, and the lower tenet is inferior to the upper tenet.
