Like this, those who truly realize are rare even in the past. Second, refuting the arguments of the Vijnanavada: If the Vijnanavadins think like this, the appearance of external objects, like illusions, is not established as external things other than the mind, so external objects are not established. Then, does the inner mind itself appear as the external object? It is not, if the mind and the external object are not other or are one, then the oneness of the mind will be lost, therefore it is considered that this is just a baseless appearance like the illusion of hair in the sky, the mind exists like a pure crystal ball that is free from all aspects. If you think that the mind is real, then how can you say that the appearance is not other? Because it is considered that the appearance is not real, it is impossible for the real and the unreal to have a common basis. If you are worried about this fault, and say that the mind is not other, then the mind also becomes unreal, because it is one with the unreal appearance. If you admit that neither is the case, and think that there is no fault in either aspect, then it is very foolish. Because saying "not other" is admitting that it is one, and negating the negation of "not other" is actually admitting that it is other, so the contradiction is concentrated on one basis, which is unreasonable, and for the real, it can only be one of them. According to most Chinese and Tibetan interpretations, if the appearance of blue, etc. is real, then how can it not be an external thing other than the mind? If it is not other, then the mind will also become unreal. If you think that the mind is not real, it cannot become the seer, then just as you think that the illusory external object is not real, but it is the seen, the mind, although it is an illusory unreal, can also become the seer. The above is refutation, and here is establishment. If it is said that samsara is dependent on the real mind of other-power, otherwise it will be like the sky, nothing, and the appearance of samsara cannot arise, because there is no basis, like a pot without clay and a cloth without yarn. If samsara is real, then is it one with the mind or other? If it is one, it cannot be separated, if it is other, then the view of Vijnanavada will be lost, so it is considered unreal. However, such an unreal samsara can function.

Since it is nonexistent, it relies on the mind that establishes reality. How can it accomplish the meaning of liberation? Just as a rabbit's horn cannot dig the ground even if it relies on a hand, non-reality does not rely on anything. If it were to rely, it would become a real thing of cause and effect. In other places, there is the phrase "like space," which is used as a word to show harm to others, but here, what is said is true. The term "non-reality" refers to utter nonexistence, which does not even exist in name, and it also refers to things like illusions that do not exist as true entities. Therefore, even if it is truly non-real, the appearance is very reasonable. Those who advocate reality, not understanding this, cling to it as if it were utter nonexistence, and this is how we respond to them. Thus, samsara, which is non-real, and the mind, which is real, are never related. Therefore, Mind-Only proponents, your mind becomes solitary, self-aware, and self-illuminating, without any object of apprehension. When the mind is free from apprehension, then the apprehended is also empty, and when the two emptinesses manifest, then Suchness manifests. Therefore, all sentient beings become Tathagatas from the beginning, without relying on the effort of the path. Even so, what is the benefit of establishing the doctrine that all phenomena are Mind-Only, merely positing it as Mind-Only? In this way, the term "Mind-Only" prevents meanings other than the mind, and although it is intended to establish the Suchness of the two emptinesses, there is no need to negate the appearance of duality, and there is no need to establish the two emptinesses. Therefore, what is the use of this path? Therefore, if you assert that there are no external objects, the appearance of samsara will become baseless, and all experiences will be cut off. The second is the refutation of arguments against the path: Even if you know that these internal and external things are like illusions, it will not cause afflictions to cease. When a magician himself knows that the beautiful woman he conjures is an illusory appearance, but the creator himself still develops attachment to her, if you think like that, then the creator of the illusory woman has not abandoned the habitual tendencies of afflictions towards any object of knowledge. Thus, he has not even slightly subdued the conceptual thought of clinging to the two selves with the antidote of wisdom. Therefore, the object, the illusory woman
