Such teachings do not completely prohibit divination and so on. There are three aspects to consider: intention, necessity, and harm to reality. Intention refers to mantras and actions performed with a bad motivation, solely for one's own selfish desires, and in a perverse manner. Necessity is divided into two types: relative necessity and necessity dependent on place and time. The first is when the means to achieve supreme siddhi is set aside, and only common achievements are pursued. This is like discarding a wish-fulfilling jewel and picking up a peach pit, which is a case of disparaging the ordinary in relation to the supreme. Also, in the degenerate age, in some places, people place great faith in temporary prophecies, divination, and mere magical powers. At that time, some selfish individuals rely on divination and so on, and pretend that knowing a little bit is a sign of the path. Furthermore, they boast about the subtle signs of accomplishment bestowed by material mantras and ordinary non-humans as the fruit of having attained the great path. As a result, those with inferior fortune develop faith in them, while those who maintain pure conduct of the three trainings are disregarded. Those who seek selfish desires and are skilled in illusion become very powerful in pursuing wrong livelihood. Therefore, depending on the place and time, some great and holy lamas disapprove of such practices, which is also due to necessity. In general, divination and so on, which are permitted by Vajradhara, are not to be prohibited. If that were the case, then based on the teachings and reasoning mentioned earlier, many harms would arise, and this should be understood. If one does not understand the distinction and says that divination and so on are not good, then that statement becomes a slander against both the Dharma and the individual. How is the Dharma slandered? From the sutras and tantras of the Buddhas, the teachings that divination is performed to clearly understand what to accept and reject are completely abandoned. Because abandoning the Dharma is very subtle, even just that much becomes abandoning the Dharma. Moreover, the sutra says: 'Some perceive the teachings of the Tathagata as good, and some perceive them as bad, and that is also abandoning the Dharma.' Because all the teachings of the Buddhas are beneficial, either directly or indirectly, for the path to omniscience, there is nothing in them that should be abandoned. In this way, even abandoning one verse from the heart is abandoning the Dharma.

It will also become a fault. Abandoning the Dharma is even more serious than the five inexpiable sins, as repeatedly stated in various sutras and tantras. Alas, evil conceptual thought! It is like not having tasted the flavor of the fruit within the Dharma, but being intoxicated and arrogant with the flavor of words and the superficial meaning of letters. In this realm, there must be a great cliff. Secondly, how to slander a person? If we consider the ultimate meaning, it undoubtedly refers to the Buddha who has perfected abandonment and realization. However, in the common appearance, it is also indisputable for those who have unparalleled wisdom and compassion, and have reached the high position of scholars and accomplished ones. Like Master Padmasambhava and the glorious Atisha, they also performed divination for the sake of taming other disciples' appearances, because there was a need. The Second Buddha, Padmasambhava, at the beginning of lighting the lamp of the Dharma in the snowy land of Tibet (Gangdise Mountains), in order to subdue those unruly arrogant ones, showed the radiant divination to the children, thereby understanding the schemes and wishes of the gods and demons, and adopted corresponding methods of taming, thus establishing the Buddhist Dharma-propagation and benefit activities in the snowy land of Tibet (Gangdise Mountains). This situation is clearly recorded in ancient historical books. Also, Lhachig Jowo Chenpo (Great Jowo) also relied on Tsunda to perform divination, which is recorded in the Kadampa Father Dharma and others, and their lineage also exists, which can be used as examples. In Tibet, there are also situations that are either obvious or not obvious, but all those scholars and accomplished ones who cultivate bodhicitta for the sake of Dharma-propagation and benefit activities, and for the benefit of others, mostly follow this method, which is described in their own biographies, collections, histories, and other records. Therefore, they mostly understood their own intentions as they were, but through methods such as divination as the Buddha said, they made others believe. Then, what can we say, like us who don't know anything? Therefore, for those special people, your words actually become a slander against the holy ones, and in fact also admit that the speaker Vajradhara is not a true refuge. So, it is better to restrain your random words a little. I am advising you with pure goodwill, with palms joined together. If you still want to speak, it is like hitting a rock with the tip of a thorn, only hurting yourself.
