Some divinations are half accurate and half inaccurate, what is going on? Some people generate arrogance, using loud roars and intimidating tones, claiming to be a certain great deity, saying many similar things. Some are actually possessed by dead ghosts, mentally deranged, using temporary magical powers and subtle divinations to deceive people, ultimately leading themselves and others to destruction. Some take pride in eating offerings as large as mountains, pretending not even to know how to use prayer beads, not even looking at them, feigning a humble attitude to show they are unwilling to easily prophesy, but in reality, they are thinking of obtaining two things. What are these two things? One is to gain a reputation of "knowing everything," making it impossible for others to expose their lies; the other is to pretend not to know the truth even when they do, in order to gain a noble character. Thinking of obtaining these two things is the greatest deception among deceptions. Clearly taking pride in accepting offerings from others, yet not even knowing how to use prayer beads, nor willing to use them, is a self-contradictory and ugly state. Therefore, when such people deceive others by various means, the lies of false "supreme beings" are likely to emerge, which is contrary to the precepts. In such a critical moment when decisions about what to accept and reject need to be made, one should, as Vajradhara said, rely on the tutelary deity, and through the power of offerings, mantras, and meditation, perform a clear and distinct divination, and truthfully present the results of the divination. This is specifically done for those who do not have the direct perception of the Buddha, so it is maintaining pure conduct according to the Buddha's teachings, and not contrary to the teachings. If, due to one's own lack of analytical skills, the results of the divination are not accurate enough, there will be no sin of lying. In general, in the scriptures and teachings spoken out of compassion by the Buddha and sages with direct perception, there are many clear instructions on what to accept and reject, but the most important are the astrology and feng shui of the glorious Kalachakra, the "Spor Thang" taught by the emanation of Manjushri, the "Sound Prophecies" spoken by Avalokiteshvara and Tara, the consort and lord of power, appearing in various forms, and other divinations made by those who have achieved truthful speech, etc. These are what those without direct perception should strive for. But among these methods, the clearest way to distinguish between what to accept and reject is divination. Therefore, in the ocean-like tantric scriptures, the Buddha did not proclaim other different characteristics. These divinations are like the eyes of the Buddha's lineage holders. Alas! Fools!

It is shameful for those to slander it. Like this, not only is it not contradictory to the path of achieving omniscience, but it is also established as a supreme limb of the path. What is the reason? Because obtaining special qualities of the path also depends on one's own body living healthily, and favorable conditions such as place, time, companions, etc. Since one does not have the power to clearly understand those hidden acceptances and rejections, most of them will be reversed and confused. When there is no other method, in order to clarify acceptance and rejection, such instructions given with compassion by the victorious Vajradhara, it seems difficult to have a more beneficial and supreme method than this. Therefore, even before an empowerment in a mandala, there are methods to examine the way to accomplish attainments through measuring sticks and dream omens, etc. To prevent such practices is to know that it is the speech of a demon obstructing the activity of Vajradhara. Therefore, if a superior pra (divination) arises, acceptance and rejection will be clearly manifest in the mind; if a middling pra arises, the deities will directly prophesy; even if an inferior one arises, it will appear in the form of symbols and images, thus opening the eye of entering and exiting hidden matters of Dharma and politics for one's own benefit. Especially it is needed for the benefit of others. In the teachings of the Kadampa forefathers, it is said: In order to teach Dharma for the benefit of others, one must obtain clairvoyance. Even if there is no clairvoyance, it is extremely necessary to have a clear pra that knows acceptance and rejection. If even that is lacking, then at least one must pray to the tutelary deity, and in any case, clear dreams of entering and exiting are necessary. Such a lineage of teachings exists even today, so it is a limb of the path, not something to be abandoned on the path. Therefore, you who perversely prevent acceptance and rejection have gone far beyond the teachings of the Buddhist Dharma. To this, he says: Well then, if pra is indispensable for the path of liberation and omniscience, as you say, then in the Compendium, in the chapter on the signs of non-retrogression, it says: 'Do not practice mantras of violent conduct, do not practice mantras of union with a barren woman. Do not show that a person of desire changes into a man or woman.' And also in many reliable commentaries on the intention of the teachings, it is said not to do such things. Why is that?
