If one thinks it can be established, it is merely because there is no perception of obstruction. If the essence could be seen, then it would not work even in space. Since neither of the two connections is possible for something that has no own essence, it cannot be established by inference. Therefore, the so-called space will be reduced to mere empty words. If you understand it this way, you will understand that all dharmas are merely established by conceptual thought and have no essence, just like space. As it is said in the scriptures: Sentient beings often say that they see space, but how can space be seen? You should carefully contemplate this reason. The space of ornaments and holes cannot be used as proof of the existence of space, as has been said before. Therefore, if one has already realized through conventional measurement that there is no self-nature, and that it is merely a nominal designation, then there is no need to emphasize and prove it again with ultimate measurement. The principles of higher and lower philosophical schools are also the same. Therefore, for things that can perform a function, one should correctly affirm and negate them, and one should also eliminate the inverted superimposition of the two graspers, just as someone with eyes examines the body of a youthful person. Therefore, by negating things, non-things themselves are established in the mind, but there is no other non-thing that serves as the basis for affirmation and negation. However, even if various names are given to its sound and meaning, it is like a flower in the sky. Moreover, the basis of the conventional truth is the twelve sources, such as form, and all that is knowable is included in them. In general, there are the six internal sources and the six external sources. Their definitions are, in order: not the co-operative condition of form-grasping consciousness, the object of eye consciousness, etc., up to being only the object of mind consciousness. Clarity and knowing are the definitions of consciousness. If classified, there are eight aggregates of consciousness. Consciousness, etc., arising based on the co-operative condition of the eye faculty, is its definition. And clarity and knowing, which are the basis of various habitual tendencies, as well as the grasping of self in the continuum of consciousness, these two are the definitions of the alaya consciousness and the afflicted mind, respectively. Generally speaking, the so-called definition is the factor that expresses the name of a thing and is used for distinguishing it, so one should distinguish between otherness and selfness, and not confuse meaning and name.

Just as inflating the abdomen to be full is said to be the characteristic of a vase. In order to dispel all the minds of beings who impose other limits through a manner similar to that characteristic and the form of words, considering that it is necessary to cover it with a single oral tradition, rather than indulging in the prolixity of increasing words, it is extremely important to grasp the essential points of the wording of great scriptures and treatises. Alas! Nowadays, because fools themselves are not sure of the way of meaning and words, they are even close to finding fault with the Buddha's teachings. However, this characteristic lies in grasping the essential point of the reversal of meaning. From the point of view of words, speculating on the imposition of other limits, like drawing the patterns of a civet cat, has almost no meaning. However, being satisfied with reciting a few words of others like Brahmins memorizing mantras, and even despising the writings of ancient saints, is truly strange. In particular, the key points of understanding, such as connection and non-connection, must also be determined in the same way. Therefore, whatever has a fault in meaning, no words can dispel it. And the way of expressing words, like a rope held in one's own hand, is to follow what one wants to express in accordance with the power of wisdom. The wise argue with the power of facts, relying on meaning, not just relying on the way of expressing words. However, for children who argue with the path of words, if they lose the iron hook of the power of wisdom, then the words also become unfree like drunken elephants, and must be regarded as a place of terror. Therefore, those who always cover their eyes with blindfolds, until the strength of the body of wisdom becomes the strongest, others cannot breathe for a while. However, all explanations, debates, and writings that mainly use words are verbose and shallow in meaning, and it is difficult to generate understanding of the key points. Therefore, wise people, by relying on meaning, mainly grasp the true understanding of the scriptures, thereby gaining control over profound wisdom, and naturally gaining freedom of expression, expressing the key points of the scriptures in the manner of reductio ad absurdum.
