Do not even say, "I have realized that permanence, self, etc., do not exist." If, even though you know that permanence, self, etc., do not exist, you think that you have not realized the absence of truth, then if there must be someone who thinks that "even though permanence, self, etc., do not exist, it is more likely that truth exists," please say whose tenet that is established by. These are all places of doubt, so it is meaningful to make such a determination. Even if the Hearer school knows that only the coarse and the constant are without truth, how can they know that all phenomena are without truth? Because they believe that the basis of the coarse and the constant is true. Therefore, the fault does not match itself. The author of the verses of self-generation, etc., in "Grasping at the Truthful," is the great Buton, so it is said by a foolish, jealous person who does not understand the Mind-Only system, and it is meaningless. You who say this are the most foolish. Because he is widely known as the second Dignāga, so saying that much, isn't it because you are jealous? Furthermore, regarding the Consequentialist system, in order to establish that Hearers and Solitary Realizers realize the absence of self of phenomena, Chandrakirti presented three reasons: First, if Hearers and Solitary Realizers do not realize the absence of self of phenomena, then the first bhūmi bodhisattva should also be able to overcome them, because they lack the ability to fully know that things are without inherent existence, just like worldly people are free from desire. If a bodhisattva who has generated the first mind also analyzes with his own intelligence, he should be able to overcome them, but the sutra says that it is not so. The intention of establishing this is not like what you say, because "lacking the ability to fully know that things are without inherent existence, just like worldly people are free from desire" clearly shows that without relying on the partial absence of self of phenomena that knows that the coarse and the constant are not true, one cannot understand the absence of self of persons, and if one lacks the ability to know the inherent existence of things in this way, even if one knows that permanence, self, etc., do not exist, one cannot abandon the innate ego-grasping, and one will become like non-Buddhists who have abandoned desire, and if so, one will not become a noble one. So, having seen the truth on the first bhūmi, can one overcome them from the gate of wisdom? The second reason is that, if that is the case, like non-Buddhists, one cannot abandon the subtle afflictions that are practiced in the three realms, and the key lies in this. The third reason is form, etc.

Because of clinging to the perverted nature of self, one cannot realize the selflessness of persons, because one clings to the aggregates as the basis for the imputation of self. That is to say, clinging to the perverted nature of form and so on is to cling to them as wholes and as permanent. While clinging to them as wholes and as permanent, one cannot see selflessness, because it does not contradict clinging to a self that is permanent and singular. Therefore, it is said that one clings to the aggregates as the basis for the imputation of self as permanent and singular. This is also stated in the Precious Garland: "As long as there is clinging to the aggregates," and so on. In the Entering the Middle Way, it is also established by reasoning in this way. Until the aggregates are destroyed into partless particles, one does not cling to them as multiple and impermanent. If one were to cling to them, one would have to cling to multiple selves and as impermanent. One would also not specifically cling to each of their parts, thinking that this is the self. Even if one does not cling in this way, if one thinks that the collection of multiple parts exists, so that this will not prevent clinging to self, then the reasoning of the sevenfold chariot alone will not be able to definitively establish the selflessness of persons, because it is entirely a reasoning based on the multiplicity and impermanence of the aggregates. Furthermore, in the continuum of Hearers and Solitary Realizers who are Arhats, it would follow that clinging to self does not cease during the remainder of their lives, because the appearance of the collection of aggregates
