Like a yak, so I think if you take on an inappropriate burden and still have benefits, it's best if your buttocks don't tremble. Regarding whether the Hearers and Solitary Realizers have realized the absence of self of phenomena, the Svatantrika school believes that abandoning samsara does not require abandoning the root of samsara. What does this mean? If the seed is not uprooted, how can the way to reverse samsara be the view of the Great Vehicle? Furthermore, if one realizes the absence of self of a person, can one realize the absence of self of all phenomena? If not, one would have to realize each phenomenon like the number of knowable objects, which would become endless. This is completely absurd. If, on any phenomenon, one sees emptiness that transcends affirmation and negation, and is free from elaboration and not nominal, then because one thing is the suchness of all things, one can see the suchness of all phenomena. As it is said in the scriptures: "Whatever is the emptiness of one, is the emptiness of all." The absence of self seen by the Hearers is merely the realization of the absence of inherent existence of a person, seeing only a partial emptiness that is not refuted by nominal terms. How can they see the absence of self of all phenomena? It is like the order of various schools, as described in the Ornament for Clear Realization regarding the three types of realization of Hearers, Solitary Realizers, and Noble Ones. If you think that this is the view of the Svatantrika school, and it is unreasonable to examine it with reason, so you don't accept it, then, hey, handsome one, tell me that reason. He said: The Hearers believe that coarse things are not real, and only realize the partless particle; the Solitary Realizers believe that the partless particle of the object of apprehension does not exist either; the Mind-Only school believes that both the apprehending and the apprehended are empty. These are not the realization of true emptiness as explained by the Madhyamaka school. If that is the case, I will ask you this: Are those reasons for analyzing the non-establishment of coarse things and the object of apprehension common to the lower and higher schools? The former has already realized it, and the latter has no room to increase or decrease it. The former establishes it, and the latter does not overturn it, but gradually the latter refutes the part that the former has not realized. Is that so or not? If so, there is no difference between the upper and lower schools in merely realizing that coarse things are not real. If not, then from the standpoint of the lower school, it is necessary to speak of a more excellent way of proving the Madhyamaka than the reason for analyzing the non-establishment of coarse things. If you say that it is the reason for refuting partless particles, then that reason is also the reason for refuting subtle things.

Since the coarse aspects have already been refuted, what further refutation is needed now? If it is needed, it would become endless. Furthermore, if the partless particle is not established, and one's own system can also realize it, then what difference is there between this and the way of realizing the non-establishment of the partless particle as explained in the context of Madhyamaka? If, by examining the partless particle for directional parts, one realizes its non-establishment, but this does not lead to the realization of the partless particle's lack of inherent existence, then the examination of the partless particle in the context of Madhyamaka would also not lead to such realization, because the reasoning in both cases is the same. What evidence is there that one cannot understand the lack of inherent existence of particles until one understands the lack of inherent existence of consciousness? The valid cognition of not perceiving a cow refutes the cow, but how could the presence of a horse prevent the refutation of the cow? If one does not understand the lack of inherent existence of other phenomena, one cannot possibly see the lack of inherent existence of unrelated phenomena. Therefore, it would follow that because vases and so on exist, the Pradhana and so on can never be refuted. If this is your intention, then in the self-path of the lower philosophical systems, there is definitely no path that becomes a door to liberation. Therefore, a person who enters only the self-path of that philosophical system will never attain liberation through that path. And how could one expect such a person to realize the tenets of the Consequentialist school, which he has neither heard, nor contemplated, nor accepted? Therefore, who was the virtuous spiritual friend who taught you this statement, which is like a root downfall of mantra, that there is no liberation in the self-paths of the three lower philosophical systems? Furthermore, regarding the statement that the reasoning that refutes the partless particle makes it impossible for the atom to be a knowable object and that it must be partful, I say: If the partless does not exist, then the partful also cannot exist. What would you say if I said that? Even if the partless does not exist, the partful does exist, because the partless is invisible and the partful is visible. If you say that, then does the subtle basis of composition of the partful exist or not? If it exists, then its basis of composition must also be partful, and therefore the atom would become endless, and the number of particles in a single blade of grass would also become infinite. Then all the statements in the sutras about the differences in the number of grains of sand in the Ganges River and so on would become unreasonable. In that case, how should one determine the quantity of particles in large and small objects? Therefore, even though neither the partful nor the partless is established in nature, no one can deny the designations of iron filings and so on that are explained in the sutras and treatises. These are just incidental and thought-provoking, but in reality
