Since it has been completely blocked, why is it not established, but established? Therefore, since things merely appear as their own nature and are not established by their own power, if they truly exist, then the appearances they posit are also impossible, like a bump without a cause. Then, even if there are no things, will they appear without a cause? Or, is it that some other cause, not the thing itself, makes it appear there? If you think so, that is not right. Because these appearances arise gradually, they are not caused suddenly and arbitrarily without a cause. If they arise suddenly without a cause, then it is unreasonable for them to arise sometimes or gradually. Because they must either always exist or always not exist, as stated above. Then, what contradiction is there if the appearance of a pot, etc., is made by another cause, such as Ishvara, or arises from permanent things such as the self and consciousness? There is a contradiction. Because these appearances and thoughts are momentary arising and ceasing, and they do not arise permanently without ceasing or changing, they do not arise from a permanent cause. Therefore, for the various appearances and thoughts, it is impossible that there is no cause for this mere appearance that cannot be denied, and even if there is a cause, it cannot arise from either the power of external objects themselves or from a cause other than objects. Therefore, it is very clearly established by reason that it is transformed from the complete maturation of the realm of habit residing in the mind. Second, it is said: Therefore, because of the similarity of habituation, the first arises from its own kind. Because of the reasons just mentioned, the various internal and external appearances also arise from the power of habituation. For example, desire and fear are like habituation in the mind. Precisely because of this, it is also established that there are past and future lives. In this way, the first moment of the newly born mind also arises from the previous mind of its own kind, and it is established by the correct reason. In the same way, it is also established that there is a future life for those with attachment. As for this life, the habit of the mind that has previously experienced the touch of a young woman remains in the continuum, so now it can completely arouse the mind that seeks such a touch. The mind that has now experienced such sexual intercourse, in the future

It has the ability to arouse feelings of attachment. Similarly, whatever one is accustomed to, it appears later in a clear or unclear manner, depending on the strength of that habit, just like learning to read, etc. Therefore, those with strong desires repeatedly think of beautiful women; cowards repeatedly think of frightening things like snakes, and due to the power of habit, eventually a clear appearance arises as if it were present before them. Similarly, all mental activities such as practicing meditation and contemplating ugliness are also the same. Therefore, the first moment of arising mind does not arise from the power of external objects, nor does it arise from a permanent cause, nor does it arise without a cause, but it arises from the previous conceptualization of things, etc., which is similar to its own kind. This is because the present consciousness is a conceptualization of things, etc. In this regard, from the perspective of valid cognition (pramanasiddha), many modes of reasoning have been explained, but if they were written down, it would become lengthy, so let it be. The point is that the cause of clearly recognizing things and the proximate cause of the arising of wisdom is only wisdom itself, and not other material things, etc., because the mind does not depend on things other than itself. The key to proving its beginninglessness with the sign of not depending on other things is contained in the reasoning explained here, and it is complete. In this way, since it has been proven to be beginningless, similarly, the dying mind that has not separated from desire is also able to connect other minds because it is associated with the reversed habit of attachment to self and what belongs to self, just like before. In this regard, if the causes are complete and there are no obstacles, then there is no doubt about the arising of the result. Just as the present consciousness is produced by the previous consciousness, at the time of death, the root cause, self-grasping, and both the karma and afflictions produced by it are complete, and there is no obstacle of realizing selflessness, so why would it not connect to the next existence? Therefore, until selflessness is realized, samsara will not cease. The mere clarity of mind does not depend on self-grasping, etc., but arises from the previous consciousness similar to its own kind, so even if both selflessnesses are realized, it will not cease because there are no obstacles and the causes are complete. This is the view of the intelligent ones. According to the system of direct perception (pratyaksha pramana), even if impure consciousness ceases, it must be proven in this way that the continuum of wisdom does not cease. These.
