Although appearing as objects of experience and so on, individual childish beings do not comprehend that it is the very nature of their own minds. Like the object being 'over there' and the mind being 'over here,' they grasp the grasper and the grasped as separate and established at a distance. This is a completely fabricated or mistaken notion that is not the reality of things. It is like not recognizing an elephant in a dream as one's own appearance, but grasping it as a real elephant existing externally. Thus, while appearing as grasper and grasped, the ultimate nature of that other-powered consciousness does not go beyond being merely self-aware and self-luminous. Therefore, it is considered that just that much, being completely established from the perspective of being empty of the two selves, is the ultimate reality of things. If one were to extensively analyze how knowledge appears in various ways, one would have to begin by understanding the nature of the eight aggregates of consciousness. Therefore, these should be understood in detail from the treatises of the noble Asanga. Therefore, if one does not understand the key to how other-powered nature is explained as ultimate and conventional in different treatises, the mind will become confused like tangled wool. Therefore, if one emphasizes the meaning of the ultimate state of other-powered nature, it is ultimate truth. If one measures by emphasizing the way it appears, it can be summarized as conventional truth. This is the key point. Therefore, even if one abandons the adventitious stains that are not the nature of the mind, the mere consciousness of self-luminous nature does not revert even in the state of Buddhahood, and it is considered the basis for the appearance of realms and bodies. This school considers both selflessnesses to be complete. Although they consider the emptiness of the completely fabricated and the absence of inherent existence, etc., to be the meaning of the selflessness of phenomena, if the Madhyamaka-prasangika were to examine it, since they accept that the basis of appearance, consciousness itself, is true, the characteristic of the selflessness of phenomena is not completely fulfilled, so it is understood to be partial. By striving on the two accumulations of the path, the result, the self-nature of the five wisdoms of the transformed basis, is considered to be accomplished as Buddhahood. Therein, merely in the conventional, the Bodhisattva takes the great armor of thinking, 'I shall liberate all sentient beings from suffering,' and repeatedly practices the immeasurable two accumulations of the path for countless eons. Having attained the wisdom of omniscience as the result, fulfilling the hopes of those to be tamed as desired, is not merely through each birth and each body, but through the distinction of the qualities of the mind-stream.

Rising from below, this vast system in which one must ultimately master all wisdom and merit is fitting and beautiful, so by laying the foundation with such terminology, one must straighten the theory of the vast path, just as it is said that the noble Asanga initiated the tradition of vast conduct, one should know that this is a key point needed by all Mahayanists. Therefore, this way of the Mind-Only school, the suchness of conventional terms is extremely true. However, the aspect of clinging to the self-illuminating nature of this consciousness as truly established is what is to be refuted. In this context of internal and external philosophical schools, the distinctions of each's intentions will be explained somewhat in the treatise, but here only the essence of the views on the two truths is stated. What is the use of speaking much nonsense? Like the root of all faculties, the life force, the mind that grasps the profound essence of the philosophical schools nakedly, like a swan that separates milk from water. This is an intermediate verse. Thus, within their own schools, due to the size of their intellect, there is a wide or narrow scope in the way they realize emptiness, and as they get closer to the reality of the two truths, although there are more and more differences, all of them cannot go beyond the common basis of appearance—true establishment, so it is called superficial emptiness. But in this treatise, within the scope of knowable phenomena, not even a little bit of things that are truly established by their own nature are accepted. As stated in the Chandrapradīpa Sūtra: "All phenomena are always empty of their own nature; if the sons of the Buddhas destroy all things, all worlds are completely empty; the superficial emptiness is of the heretics." And so on, establishing such a Madhyamaka school. And in this Madhyamaka, regarding the appearance of conventional things, there is the acceptance of what appears before an unexamined mind, as it is known in the world, and there is also the acceptance as in the school of the Sautrāntikas and other realists. But in this treatise, since the view of terminology is the same as that of the Mind-Only school, it is considered to have initiated the tradition of the Madhyamaka Yogācāra school. This kind of conventional establishment, if analyzed with reason, is the ultimate suchness of terminology. Glorious Dharma.
