Because holding it causes obstacles, evil spirits, and harmful things to flee in fear. It is mentioned in 'Accomplishment of Good Sayings' that the material of this vajra can be wood struck by lightning, or neem, or charcoal from a cemetery, or pure sandalwood, or any other material. The three-pointed vajra is called the activity vajra that well accomplishes mantras, and it accomplishes incredible activities, so practitioners should cherish it greatly, smear it with red sandalwood and place it, bless it with mantras, and make offerings with that mantra. Furthermore, it is said in the 'Good Arm Sutra': Vajras that are ten to eighteen fingers long, and the best size is twenty fingers long, vajras with five prongs that are well-shaped, smooth, undamaged, and flawless should be held firmly. Moreover, the material of the vajra is said to be diverse according to the differences in various activities. It should be held during recitation. After the recitation is finished, quickly prostrate with devotion, make offerings with incense, etc., and then place it at the feet of the Buddhas. A practitioner who practices the mantras of the Vajra family cannot achieve accomplishment without a vajra. In any case, if there is no vajra, then one should clench a fist and recite with unwavering attention. Furthermore, as a method to pacify evil spirits, giving tormas, bathing with water from a vase blessed with mantras, and combining methods of activity with fierce means such as fierce fire offerings, doing as it is said in the tantras will lead to liberation from evil spirits. In order to continuously protect from obstacles and accomplish mantras, one should tie the hair knot with the mantra of the wrathful king that makes all secret mantras well accomplished, "Oṃ Susiddhi Kari Svāhā (藏文：ཨོཾ་སུ་སིདྡྷི་ཀ་རི་སྭཱ་ཧཱ།，梵文天城体：ओṃ सुसिद्धि करि स्वाहा，梵文罗马拟音：oṃ susiddhi kari svāhā，汉语字面意思：嗡，速成就，作者，梭哈)", or eliminate obstacles through recitation or protective cords, etc. The extremely secret mantra of Vajrapani Vajrakilaya, "Oṃ Kili Kila Vajra Hūṃ Phaṭ (藏文：ཨོཾ་ཀཱི་ལི་ཀཱི་ལ་བཛྲ་ཧཱུྃ་ཕཊ།，梵文天城体：ओṃ किलि किलि वज्र हुṃ फट，梵文罗马拟音：oṃ kili kili vajra hūṃ phaṭ，汉语字面意思：嗡，噶里，噶拉，金刚，吽，啪特)", which destroys all obstacles, is also a supreme method for protecting against obstacles, as it is said in the 'Cause of Supreme Wisdom Sutra'. The mantra of Hayagriva: "Oṃ Amṛtotbhava Hūṃ Phaṭ (藏文：ཨོཾ་ཨ་མྲྀ་ཏོཏྦྷ་བ་ཧཱུྃ་ཕཊ།，梵文天城体：ओṃ amṛtotbhava hūṃ phaṭ，梵文罗马拟音：oṃ amṛtotbhava hūṃ phaṭ，汉语字面意思：嗡，甘露生，吽，啪特)". And, the heart mantra of the Ushnishacakravartin Dharani, the one-syllable mantra Bhrūṃ (藏文：བྷྲུྃ།，梵文天城体：भ्रुं，梵文罗马拟音：bhrūṃ，汉语字面意思：勃隆), and the mantra of swirling nectar, "Oṃ Amṛte Hūṃ Phaṭ (藏文：ཨོཾ་ཨ་མྲྀ་ཏེ་ཧཱུྃ་ཕཊ།，梵文天城体：ओṃ amṛte hūṃ phaṭ，梵文罗马拟音：oṃ amṛte hūṃ phaṭ，汉语字面意思：嗡，甘露，吽，啪特)", are all the main methods for destroying obstacles, and these mantras are very important during the time of approaching and accomplishing any deity, and these are sufficient.
