Just as it is said, "Someone touches an elephant, only touching the trunk," and so on. Those who, due to ignorance, are like the blind, not understanding the meaning of the two dependent originations, do not understand the nature of the alaya-consciousness, which is like an elephant, and how it transforms into the previously mentioned nature and cause and effect. Therefore, they grasp self-nature, previous actions, and Ishvara (自在天) as causes, and also grasp it as without cause, and also grasp it as the eater and the doer. In short, the nature of the alaya-consciousness is the vipaka-consciousness (异熟识), the all-seeds of all dharmas. It encompasses the various different bodies in the three realms and all five realms of existence. External objects and the internal alaya-consciousness, and the unclear, unindicated (avyakrita, 无记). The alaya-consciousness, both virtuous and non-virtuous, and the conventional external world, which is its seed itself. The ultimate truth is the alaya-consciousness, which is the seed of all dharmas, the conventional ultimate truth, all of these are considered as six types of seeds. These arise simultaneously with the momentary, the seed, and the holder of the seed. It is considered to arise continuously until the antidote arises. These seeds are also individually determined, dependent on conditions, and established by being held by their respective fruits from the seeds. For the stable, trainable, and unindicated, it is trainable, because the cause of all dharmas is the alaya-consciousness, and the habit of the appearance of all dharmas is established in it. The result is also itself, because it itself is trained. The nature is called vipaka-consciousness, all seeds. That which obtains its own nature separately is vipaka. That which is trained by all seeds is all. For the unstable, like the wind, it is not trainable. For that which has been predicted, it is also not trainable, just as an unfragrant odor cannot become fragrant. That which is worthy of training is trained, and that which is not worthy is not trained, just as stones, gold, silver, etc., cannot become fragrant. If one observes the momentary arising and ceasing, arising, continuity, etc., these exist in the alaya-consciousness, but the entering consciousness does not have such characteristics. Therefore, that which is to be trained is related to the trainer. The trainer is other, while the other is not so. That is the characteristic of habit, therefore the habit of the alaya-consciousness is trainable.

Okay. The six entering knowledges are unrelated to habitual patterns, because they are related to three differences: other supports such as the eye, other objects, and other mental activities. 7. Because it is impossible to arise simultaneously with the moment of cessation. If it is said that even though there is no connection between the types of entering knowledge, they still need to be cultivated, then there will be a fault of becoming something other than something else, because the types between the eye and so on and form and so on are the same. 7. The outer and inner seed1 are considered to cause2 and propel2 between the ultimate. Because if the outer seed is not sown, the inner death will be propelled. Just as an arrow does not fall on the way to its destination. Like the external seed, the internal seed is not like that, this is segmented. The external others, such as sheep's horns, or Durba and other seeds such as barley, etc., are not sown. The inner seed is not considered to be like that, because if there are no habitual patterns of hearing and so on, then it is impossible to produce the result of hearing and so on. Because doing and not doing, destroying and gathering, will become a fault, so it is contradictory. The inner seed, the outer seed is the cause, therefore, the Alaya consciousness is the basis of habitual patterns. 7. The other entering consciousness, whatever it is, is practiced in all beings such as the body and gods, because the object and aspect are not completely cut off. The Differentiation of the Middle and Extremes says: One, the Alaya consciousness is the consciousness of cause, two, the entering consciousness is the practitioner, feeling is the practitioner, consciousness is completely cut off, and its entering action is intention, which arises from the mind. It's like what was said. The Alaya and entering consciousness, these two consciousnesses, one is the cause of the other, as stated in the Abhidhamma Sutra: All dharmas are related to the generation of Alaya consciousness, and Alaya consciousness is also related to Alaya in the same way. In this way, the two are always related to the entity of the fruit and the entity of the cause. When the Alaya consciousness is the cause, it is the fruit, and when it is the cause, the Alaya consciousness is the fruit. So it is said. There are three dependent originations: samsara or self-nature, actions of desire and non-desire, and the practice of the body.
