The meaning of the basis of fatherhood, and the discipline of benefiting sentient beings, should be understood as the meaning of the basis for fully maturing sentient beings. The difference between common and uncommon trainings is: The training of Bodhisattvas that is common with the Shravakas is that they do not engage in all naturally negative actions. The uncommon training is: Because it is necessary, all prohibited negative actions can be practiced. Because in that training, wherever there is a downfall for the Shravakas, there is no downfall for the Bodhisattvas; wherever there is a downfall for the Bodhisattvas, there is no downfall for the Shravakas. For example, entering the summer retreat is a downfall for the Shravakas. There is no downfall for a Bodhisattva who goes to tame other sentient beings. If one abandons the purpose of taming sentient beings and does not go for fear of the punishment of the summer retreat, it is a downfall for the Bodhisattva. For the Shravakas, even if they do not go because of small compassion, there is no downfall. Desire, hatred, etc. are the broken precepts of the Bodhisattva, but not of the Shravakas, because they take more than they give up. Why is that? Because the discipline of the Bodhisattvas is of body, speech, and mind. The discipline of the Shravakas is only of body and speech. For that very reason, Bodhisattvas will have mental downfalls, but Shravakas will not. In short, like adultery, etc., all those actions of body, speech, and mind that are without fault and benefit all sentient beings, the Bodhisattva should practice and learn, and the difference between common and uncommon should be understood in this way. The three trainings, such as higher discipline, are included in the six perfections, but they are explained separately because there are other classifications, which show the cause and effect relationship between the earlier and later. As it is said: Relying on the aggregate of discipline, the aggregate of concentration arises; relying on meditation, the aggregate of wisdom arises; from that, liberation, the aggregate of seeing the knowledge of liberation arises. The difference of vastness is fourfold: With various and immeasurable methods of taking care of sentient beings, the training itself becomes vast; with great compassion that never ceases, the accumulation of merit

Now, the very vastness of fully embracing the non-existent, and for the sake of leading all sentient beings into virtue, giving benefit, and making them act with ease on the path of ease, or for the sake of making them attain permanent benefit and temporary happiness, fully embracing the vast intention, and the vastness of aiming at or relying on the supreme perfect Bodhi as the fruit, since the Shravakas do not have these, therefore this is vast. The profoundness refers to the fact that Bodhisattvas who are skilled in means, even if they practice the ten types of actions such as killing, etc., with such skillful means, they will not become blameworthy because of it, and they will also accumulate immeasurable merit, and quickly manifest and realize the supreme perfect Bodhi. If one knows that another is clearly inclined towards non-virtuous actions, and also understands his mind, since he cannot be prevented from falling into the lower realms by other means, and seeing that if he is killed, he will be reborn in the higher realms, thinking, 'Rather than letting him go to the lower realms because of this (evil deed), I will bear this great burden of suffering.' Having this special thought, like a doctor, killing for the sake of benefit, is like a captain killing a black man with a short spear. Furthermore, the actions of the emanation body and speech should also be understood as the profound discipline of the Bodhisattva. Therefore, he also governs the kingdom and shows various threats of punishment to sentient beings, thereby subduing sentient beings. By showing various stories of rebirths, causing harm to other sentient beings, such as unwillingly giving children, etc. to others, but also universally giving benefits to other begging sentient beings. Therefore, through the faith that precedes in the minds of others, the accomplishment of making them fully ripen is also achieved. For example, giving children, etc. is not done when the parents of those children are unwilling, but only after knowing that doing so will not harm them temporarily or in the long run, and it is not that there is no love for them, or that the children, etc. that are given are emanations. If the gift is an emanation, will there be benefit? Answer: Because it looks like it benefits others, merit will arise. Even if the receiver is also an emanation, because of giving with a pure mind, benefit will arise, and through this purity, others will also ripen. This is the characteristic of the profoundness of the Bodhisattva's discipline. In short, the Bodhisattva
