Although there are meditations on the ten perfections, the main focus is on meditating on the ten pāramitās in the ten bhūmis. Six of these are generosity and so on, as explained above. The last four bhūmis, starting with the seventh, are the four pāramitās: skillful means pāramitā, which does not abandon saṃsāra and strives for nirvāṇa, is skillful means; accumulating the roots of virtue of the six perfections and sharing them with all sentient beings, in order to dedicate them to the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment. The aspiration pāramitā is to manifest various aspirations in order to accomplish, mature, and purify the aspirations that will arise in the future, thereby gathering the conditions for the pāramitās, such as meeting spiritual friends and entering the Dharma. The power pāramitā is definitely said to have two antidotes: the power of discriminating wisdom and meditation, constantly practicing the six perfections. When there is no power of meditation, one should separately examine the qualities to be adopted and the faults to be abandoned. Once one is accustomed to it, both of these are present during meditation. The wisdom pāramitā is the classification of the six pāramitās, such as their number and definition. Through wisdom, one experiences and enjoys the dharmas of suchness and allness, and by teaching the Dharma, one completely ripens sentient beings. Furthermore, these last four pāramitās can be seen as being encompassed by the prajñāpāramitā, the non-conceptual wisdom, and the subsequent wisdom attained after it. This is mainly how it is taught, but it is not the case that all the pāramitās are not meditated on in all ten bhūmis, because the categories of dharmas that teach the ten bhūmis are encompassed by the pāramitāpiṭaka, the Mahāyāna Dharma; there is no Mahāyāna that is not included in the pāramitās. How long does it take for one person to complete the meditation on these ten bhūmis? The five types of individuals are the five types distinguished by faith, conduct, etc., in one individual. It is said in the scriptures that it takes three countless kalpas to complete, that is, the individual who abides in the bhūmi of faith and conduct completes the first countless kalpa.

It becomes. Practicing in pure higher intention, practicing with characteristics one in the sixth ground, etc., and practicing without characteristics two in the seventh ground, etc., the sixth ground, etc., and the seventh are perfected by two countless eons. That which is practiced without being manifestly performed is the pure three grounds. Beyond that, between the eighth, ninth, and tenth grounds, it is perfected by three countless eons. The eighth ground is accomplished without manifest performance. Practicing without manifest performance is the ninth and tenth grounds. Thus, one person is spoken of in five ways by five stages. From where does the first beginning of the three countless eons start? Here, a verse says: Possessing the power of good roots, and possessing the power of aspiration, that is, aspiration, whose mind is steadfast on the path to enlightenment, going from higher to higher, surpassing, possessing these four qualities, from then on, the Bodhisattva's three countless eons, it is said that they always begin. Possessing the power of good and virtuous roots, not being overcome by opposing factors, meeting virtuous friends by the power of aspiration, etc., being certain in the Mahayana, having a steadfast mind, not abandoning the mind of enlightenment, not being shaken by the conditions of evil companions, etc., in this life and future lives, virtuous dharmas go from higher to higher, surpassing and not declining, that is, not being satisfied with good roots. Thus, after showing the distinction of meditating on cause and effect, how should the distinction of the sixth higher morality be observed? As it is said in the Bodhisattva Grounds, the Bodhisattva vows are properly taken. In short, there are four distinctions that surpass the precepts of the Hearers' training: namely, the distinction of distinctions, the distinction of common and uncommon trainings, the distinction of vastness, and the distinction of depth. First, the distinction of distinctions is: for the sake of the discipline of vows, the discipline of gathering virtuous dharmas, and the discipline of benefiting sentient beings. The discipline of vows should be understood as the meaning of being the basis of the latter two disciplines. The discipline of gathering virtuous dharmas is to truly accomplish the Buddha's Dharma.
