Those who dwell on the characteristics of samadhi by specially practicing, if the wise do not have non-conceptualization towards all, they will attain the supreme Bodhi. It should not be said that the Dharma from the form aggregate to omniscient wisdom appears as a characteristic. 7. With what action does one enter into what should be done? By hearing the Mahayana Dharma, arising from the cause of habit, gathered by proper attention, with the speaker of the mind's expression, including the view of the appearance of Dharma and meaning such as the Sutras, and the combination of the four complete searches, namely action, name, meaning, and self-nature, and the complete search for what is specifically established, at the time of realizing what is truly as it is, there are four complete knowledges, namely the objects of name and meaning, their self-nature and the four specifically established, and the complete knowledge of the meaning of self-nature and difference as it truly is, through these one enters, because they are the object of name. Moreover, in this way, when a Bodhisattva strives to enter into mere consciousness, and becomes like that, for the mind's expression of the appearance of letters and meaning, one also truly realizes that the name that has become the self-nature of the letters is merely the mind's conceptualization. One also truly realizes that the meaning that relies on letters is merely the mind's expression. One also truly realizes that the name is merely the self-nature of that meaning, and the specific establishment of that self-nature. Therefore, focusing on what is merely the mind's expression, if one does not fixate on the nature of the meaning of all discriminations, like external objects, which is accompanied by the name, that is, the two sounds of self-nature and specific establishment, and the two meanings accompanied by self-nature and difference, then the four complete searches that have become the means, and its result, the four complete knowledges that are truly as they are, can enter into the mind's discrimination of the appearance of letters and meaning, becoming mere consciousness. That is, the result of completely searching for the name is not fixating on the name, the result of completely searching for the object is not fixating on the object, similarly, combined with self-nature and specific establishment, there are four in total. Then, how does one say to enter into mere consciousness? How does one enter? Mere consciousness is just that, here it is not merely the absence of external objects, but also through the meaning of consciousness.

It is meaningless. If asked, how does one follow the twelve sources and the terms of worldly meaning? Answer: From the two that possess reason and view, the twelve sources are established. If asked, are these two different or not different? Answer: A single consciousness appears and enters into various forms at the same time, therefore it is established as name, meaning, self-nature, and difference. The meaning of the establishment of self-nature and difference, these six forms themselves are meaningless. Although they do not exist, they appear to be near to the object of grasping and the grasper, and at the same time, various meanings appear and change. For example, in a dark place, it appears meaninglessly as a snake, and the mind is put into a rope. Therefore, because there is no snake, grasping the rope as a snake is wrong or inverted. Those who understand its meaning are like the thought of a snake disappearing from the rope, and abiding in the thought of the rope. If the rope is also broken down into subtle forms, then grasping the rope is also wrong. Because the rope is a collection of many characteristics such as color, smell, taste, and perception. Just as the thought of the rope is eliminated by relying on the thought of distinguishing colors, etc., similarly, relying on the thought of knowing the meaning of the perfectly established nature, just like eliminating the thought of a snake, for the mental discriminations that appear as letters, etc., and the six meanings, if the meaning that is truly established in the six meanings is eliminated in that way, then the thought of mere consciousness should also be broken down. Thus, when a Bodhisattva enters the characteristic of meaning that appears as meaning through the expression of the mind, it is entering the nature of complete imputation. Entering mere consciousness, therefore, is entering the nature of dependence on others. How does one enter the perfectly established nature? Answer: By eliminating the concept of mere consciousness, because if there is no object of grasping, there is no grasper. At this time, when the Bodhisattva breaks down the concept of meaning, it is impossible for all those that arise from the cause of the habitual tendencies of the Dharma of obtaining the expression of the mind to appear as meaning. Because there is no object of grasping, it appears as mere consciousness.
